There is a really good article in The Athletic on this topic, linked in th other thread.

Basically, Mahomes is a collective 32-0 when a group of 6 or 7 referees call the game.

Given that Mahomes wins most of his games , the average record thinks be about 8-2 or 7-3.

Mahomes is 5-4 when Clive Beckman is the ref. He’s the ref this wknd. It’s the best we could have asked for.

Dorsnt mean Bills won’t be hit with bad calls, but the evidence suggests he doesn’t favor Mahomes.

As opposed to Martin, KC ref this past wknd. Mahomes is 7-0 when Martin calls his games.

I saw the article in the Athletic and I agree that the Bills got about as good a ref assignment as they could have hoped for.  Allen's record with this ref is better than Mahomes'.

The Bills have to be ready for the Chiefs DBs to be physical and also ready to give some back.  Hopefully big, strong receivers like Coleman, Kincaid and Knox will be strong enough to play through the contact and make some plays.  Also, Cooper is a veteran guy that should know how to deal with that type of play and still get open.  A lot of Shakir's catches are behind the LOS, so he may also be able to escape the contact.  With the Bills strong running game, plus the everybody eats passing offense, it will be more difficult for the Chiefs to take away the Bills receivers.  It's no longer Diggs left, Diggs right, Diggs underneath, etc. with the occasional Gabe Davis mixed in, with no pre-snap motion (making the play easier to diagnose).  The ball gets distributed to Cooper, Shakir, Hollins, Coleman, Samuel, Kincaid, Knox (who always plays well against KC), Ty Johnson, Davis, etc.  They can't rough up all of these guys on every passing play.

Cooper was quiet last week, with only 1 target that went incomplete.  I think he'll make some big plays this week.

I'm hoping with the attention they got on the BS calls from the divisional game, they will over-correct to avoid the backlash.

This is what I expect, they sucked last weekend so this weekend they will be better

I think they need to eliminate QB protections on slides that are late and/or in traffic. And stopping just inside the chalk is absolutely bush league from Mahomes. I get it because he gets that call, but it is such a stain on the NFL that he does it and is rewarded for it.

I can just see it now. Chiefs have the ball. Down 30-28. 4th and 3 at midfield. 20 secobds left.

Mahomes throws a 30 yard pass for Kelce that ends up out of his reach. During this time, Kelce throws the CB down. Both the CB and Kelce fall. Ref calls PI on Bills. Chiefs run it down to two seconds. Kicker hits both uprights somehow. The ball falls through.

Chiefs 31-Bills 28

A LB could destroy him with a huge hit so he doesn't try it again. Would be worth the flag if it's early enough.

Clete Blakeman is the ref this week and Patty is 6-5 now with him as Ref.

I think if you gave Roger Goodell and some Park Avenue NFL Execs truth serum they probably would like to see Buffalo in the Super Bowl.   Bills-Eagles or Bills-Washington would be refreshing for everyone.  The ratings will be great regardless, but there is definitely some Chiefs fatigue nationally, and let's be honest if you aren't a KC fan no one gives a crap about their 3-peat.   The Chiefs are currently on the longest playoff win streak (8) without missing the playoffs in NFL history.

I do not believe this ref crew will get a call from the corporate office to "go easy" on KC and stick it to Buffalo.  But I've said it all along,  these refs are human and they tend to favor the home teams with calls or non-calls.  So advantage Chiefs even if it's an unconscious bias by the refs.

Hope not.  The NFL really needs to be careful here.

I know they seem invincible when it comes to ratings, but they won't get unlimited grace with sports fans.

After the nauseating New England/Tom Brady show that lasted almost two decades, most football fans I talk with are already SICK of the Chiefs (and I live in St. Louis, which is generally considered KC territory).  They would rather have ANYONE ELSE go to the Super Bowl than watch another unending dynasty.

Since Taylor Swift joined their team, most people are pretty suspicious of the NFL skewing things in their favor.  The last thing they need is yet another officiating debacle that sends the most hated team in the league back to the big game.  Especially if it's against another heavily disliked franchise like the Eagles.

Watch the KC film, who's the O lineman that always plays about 5' off the LOS?........he never gets called on it and it's a HUGE advantage.

The announcers last weekend were mentioning it during the KC/Texans game that it was a "for sure" penalty and the guy never got called out on it.........and then i couldn't "unsee" it all game long.

It's not just the bad calls that go against the opposing team, it is the lack of holding calls on the line and in their secondary. Their secondary is handsy. If there is no call early, they know they will get away with it. If it gets called early, they know the refs are not favoring them and they are in trouble.

I think the mahomes gets all the calls is a bit overblown.  I do think officiating will play a role, because it always does.

Exactly this.

Agree...and i hope so..but i begin to think they dont care at all.

Those calls or non-calls just totally change the outcome of a game.
I hope we gonna see a real football game. Simply.
