Pretty cool...

Just wondering... was he a healthy scratch against the Ravens???

Codrington is really good, no doubt, but Shakir's punt return against the Broncos was special; the type of run back you only see from Shakir, and I am wondering if that upside and arguably greater home run potential is something the Bills decided to roll with despite Codrington being a full practice participant last week.

Might be kind of like the Chiefs back in the day with Tyreek Hill.  He wasn't their regular season punt returner, but come playoffs, you'd see him back there at times.

IF this is what we are doing with Shakir over Codrington, I don't mind it at all.

Unfortunately, since the Ravens had 0 punts, we didn't have the privilege of watching Shakir's ability as a returner again, but I'd be surprised if the Chiefs didn't punt to us at least once or twice; they don't present the same issues to our defense as the Ravens...

Calen Bullock at safety would’ve been nice. Only other player I really wanted was T’Vondre Sweat, but that would mean no Coleman and Beane wouldn’t have been able to make it home alive if he passed on a WR for a DT.

No, he got injured in the garbage game against the Pats. A small sacrifice for keeping our starting CBs healthy.

I’m vaguely remembering that the Bills teams of the 90s getting certain players in on returns in more important games too, although my memory could be way off.  It also frees up a roster spot to call others up.

While he did get injured late in the regular season, I believe he was available for the game and they decided not to use him.  I can understand not wanting to put a rookie back there in a playoff game in wintry conditions.  I also understand using Shakir, who may be even better.  You don't risk a starting WR getting injured on special teams in the regular season, but all bets are off during the playoffs a you do what you can to have the best chance to win.  Codrington is still a very good returner and was a great pickup for the Bills.

I'm interested to see if Micah Hyde gets called up for this game.  Rapp may not be able to go, and even if he starts, I could see him getting re-injured in the game.  Bishop seemed to acquit himself fairly well, but having a savvy veteran available in a big game like this could be an asset. He can also be a reliable player to field punts, in certain situations.  If Hyde isn't called up, or they call up Kareem Jackson instead, it will confirm that Hyde is truly washed as a player.  He still may add "locker room" value to the team as a veteran presence to help with the younger safeties.
