It’s not so much speed, but the craft of getting a free release, running routes, maintaining fluidity through cuts, and how to confuse DBs at the top of stems. If he can start to master that and add some strength he’ll be able to put DBs in awkward situations.

   I haven't read all the posts in this thread, so I don't know if anyone else mentioned this.   There was a game in the playoffs, I can't remember which game, where the left tackle performed the exact same move that Dawkins did.  No penalty.  On top of that, the announcers singled the play out as a great technique.

 

   I wish I could remember the game but too many playoffs games blur my memory.

Obviously, it’s in the history books but c’mon refs - be better with what you are looking at.  

 

Baldy nails it i don;t know in any way what that ref was thinking or what he thought he saw but it wasn't a penalty & i hope that the NFL sits him down and points out just how wrong he was ...
