BuffaloBill Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Lost in the entirety of the game was just how bad and damaging this call was. It is the offense’s version of a very poorly called PI on the defense. Holding calls are drive killers. This is the second time this year Dion has been flagged for masterful o-line play. Obviously, it’s in the history books but c’mon refs - be better with what you are looking at. 6 7 1 4 5 Quote
JMM Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Yup its happened several times, how have the refs NOT been educated on this?? I GUARANTEE you the Bills have addressed it with the league office. This false penalty almost certainly cost the Bills points. 2 4 1 Quote
QB Bills Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago To be fair, that PI call on Tre White was ridiculous and benefitted us far more than this holding call hurt. Really can't complain about the refs this past Sunday. Saving all of that for this week 🙂 4 1 5 Quote
machine gun kelly Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago As always Baldy is right, just like all of these KC haters saying it wasn’t a flag when the two Texans guys collided with each other over a Mahomes slides wasn’t a penalty. I had a rudimentary debate with someone at my favorite watering hole Sunday for lunch as he clearly made a move to slide. You can only put your hand on him to say he’s down. The overhype was ridiculous amd yes, the Chiefs have had way too many questionable calls go their way this year. This wasn’t one of them. 1 1 Quote
Beck Water Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago All I ask is that the refs this coming week call "illegal formation" and "false start" penalties on the both lines equally, and holding on both lines equally. It was very annoying watching Baltimore clothesline our DLmen in obvious ways and no calls. It would be more annoying watching the KC tackles line up way behind the LOS and false start repeatedly. 2 6 Quote

Not sure why everyone thought that didn't matter just because Coleman shoved him out of the way. 8 1 8 1 2 Quote

If the roles were reversed and Benford or Douglas got called for that, we'd have 3 separate threads on this board screaming bloody murder. Edited 12 hours ago by QB Bills 3 1 3 Quote
Charles Romes Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago It’s one thing to get flagged for doing something that’s not a penalty. It’s a whole other thing to get flagged when you have DOMINATED a rep. I was shocked when this happened. Don’t the refs know who Dion Dawkins is, and that he doesn’t need to hold? This is where the lack of all pro recognition can really hurt. 3 1 Quote

It's routinely called; he made contact outside of the 5 yard cushion. It only looked like a bad call because Coleman did a terrible job of selling it. 1 Quote

I think it was holding / illegal contact and 5 yards rather than a spot foul but it was a foul. He had Coleman grabbed before Josh released the ball. 8 2 Quote

If i can't jump for the jump ball because of contact... then there's probably too much contact. He shoved him and extended his arm so i can see the opi discussion, but his entire body was wrapped around coleman at that point. 1 minute ago, T.E. said: It's routinely called; he made contact outside of the 5 yard cushion. The problem is the refs can only rely on their eyes and on first glance it appeared it be a hold due to way defender reacted, much like Mahomes on the roughing the passer. In these instances the league might want to allow the ref in the sky over rule the refs on the field if can see clearly it wasn't a penalty. 2 Quote

Not from me you wouldn't when the Bills commit a penalty I call it a penalty. The Ravens got hosed a little in that the wrong penalty (with the bigger tarrif applied to it) was called. But it was a definite foul. Quote

White was stumbling and created a bit of contact with Coleman, I could see that being called if the refs were being really tight with contact in the secondary. This was a 'let them play' type game though so it's pretty ridiculous to call that penalty on Tre. Pretty funny that we only had 1 accepted penalty and we still have a legitimate gripe about the officiating. Quote

White was engaged with the receiver past 5 yards of the line of scrimmage, impacting his route. And when he fell, he further impacted his route. It was a borderline call that maybe you want to not see called for PI, but it was nothing like the Dawkins call, which was not holding by any stretch of the imagination. 2 1 Quote
LABILLBACKER Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Clearly the refs have no clue (or just don't care) what the rules are. He also slips on the snow covered field. This individual ref is a cross section of the incompetence we see every damn week. And the NFL is just not motivated to do anything about it. 1 Quote

If you freeze frame stuff its more obvious but the ref who called the penalty had a very good view right on the field. They also never called a single OPI on baltimore despite numerous pick plays, including a couple full initiated blocks by andrews well before the ball is delivered. Much like a hold... these are drive killers. 2 Quote

You are supposed to officiate the action. You see it all the time with phantom facemask calls. The player turns his head and draws a flag when the defender never even touches the facemask. Officials need to be trained out of that. You can't throw flags like that. You can only throw them if you see something actually happen. Edited 12 hours ago by MJS 2 1 1 Quote

And when they do, it's for selected circumstances. It's worthless if it doesn't cover everything that goes on in a game. Why buy a car if you're never going to drive it. 2 Quote
