I don't like this as it is kinda a loserish mindset at this point. I don't disagree but Its like your conceeding defeat posting it before the season is over.

I completely agree, this is all gravy now. Because of Josh's brilliance we are likely a year ahead of where we should be. I hope we get er done, but won't be upset in the slightest if we don't.

I didn't buy into all the negativity during the preseason.  I thought as long as we had McD and Josh, we'd be alright.  But with $36 million in dead cap and a bunch of jettisoned captains, I did have concerns about the strength of the roster.  So I projected another AFCE crown but a short run in the playoffs.  I didn't expect to be in the AFCCG so I'm thrilled we're exceeding expectations.

But now that we're here, I'm hungry for more.  These opportunities are rare and that part of my heart where Bills hopes live is blazing like a furnace.  Maybe the Bills aren't actually the best team in the NFL this year.  But just two more wins gets us the trophy.  Just two.  The Gridiron Gods can give us that.

I was worried about the depth, especially at the skill positions. Shakir and Samual were good players and Keon Coleman was a talented rookie. But if you watched the end of last season and saw how the Bills were winning games, you knew they would be fine without diggs and Davis

Before the season, I thought a good outcome would be winning the division, with a stretch goal of making the Divisional.

So they’ve exceeded my expectations by a lot. But given where we are, and how the Chiefs have performed this year, it will still be a disappointment if we lose.

How we lose would be important though. If we get blown out, or beat ourselves with dumb coaching decisions I’ll be really disappointed. If we give it our all and it just isn’t quite good enough in a close game, that’s just how it goes with football sometimes.

It’s kind of like losing 4 super bowls. It’s a great achievement to be that consistent and get there 4 years in a row, but fair or unfair, it’s a failure to not win just one of them.

Same here with the Chiefs and playoffs. Yes, expectations were low at the beginning of the year but now that we’re here, you gotta get this win or it’s a fail.

OK I know that, but nothing will bring me peace but a SB victory, and  coming up short once again will not fill me with some sort of "just wait till next year" pride.

I will not be happy if we lose to KC or in the SB.

I don't need a Superbowl win to bring me peace. It would make me extremely happy. But I don't need it for peace.

If you don’t want to believe me, that’s okay. But won’t you at least believe McD and Josh?

This is so silly. Of course they want to win it all every year. Were you always first in your class, or were you a failure?

This is childish and tiresome nonsense.

Why is it that the same people who were claiming before the season that the Bills have a 6-11 roster are now the same people who are saying that if we don't make the SB, the entire season is a failure and McBeane should be fired. Talk about moving the goalposts...

OK.... I'm tortured every year we go to the playoffs and exit early, and then have to listen to so many say how we are never going to win it etc etc etc.... I get over it but that is getting old to.

Peyton Manning did not beat Tom Brady in the playoffs until he was in his 30's.   We can't have that be the case here.

He also had way more weapons than Allen. And a D with legit pass rushers.

Meaning...it was only a matter of time until they broke through with that roster.

Unfortunately, we don't have a roster like that.

Not the point, but agreed.

Then it shouldn't be heralded as some kind of monumental achievement.

Brady had the run of the mill in similar fashion for 20 years.  It helped them tremendously with seeding come playoff time.

I agree.

The Patriots made those division wins count by winning several SB's. The Bills have yet to do that.

There's an old Bhuddist practice called "Radical Acceptance". Radical acceptance can be defined as the ability to accept situations that are outside of your control without judging them, which reduces the pain & suffering they cause. By accepting things for what they are, you can acknowledge your emotions without denying, avoiding, or ignoring the situation. It can be an effective way to process your emotions and manage difficult experiences.

For 55+ years I've allowed myself to experience the stress and heartbreak of being a Bills fan.  This is a situation outside of my control. We've created this psychological fail safe to protect us when the disappointment comes. To be at peace with either outcome seems to be a popular feeling among most Bills fans. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.  Of course we want our team to win it all.  To slay the dragon and beat KC. To hoist that Lombardi high for themselves and the dedicated fans who have invested their souls into this team.

Maybe fans like @Augie and @BringBackFergy were right all along. Enjoy the ride and embrace the entertainment that this team brings to our lives. This is not a cop out, nor are you settling for just regular season accomplishments. But don't let the outcome destroy our lives thru stress & anxiety. it's not worth it. Life is too short. Praise the Bills for a spectacular season and celebrate them when they bring a championship to the greatest fans in the world.

Are you a psychologist by chance? If so, you just diagnosed my approach to the Bills. And I'm not even Bhuddist!!

greetings. Great talk in this thread

I don't think a thread idea is conceding defeat at all. To me it I considering it.

I think it's healthy. I mean why be in denial it might happen. We concede exactly SQUAT to the chiefs

bah humbug on them. GO BILLS

I first learned the Serenity Prayer when we took our son to rehab for the first time decades ago. When you are dealing with addiction you don’t need to remember the prayer, you need to learn to live it. I guess I’ve had a lot of practice, and it’s made me a healthier Bills fan.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference.

We have a neighbor nobody likes. I’ll call him Gene, because his name is Gene. He’s a cantankerous retired litigator. We are polite and everything, we say hello and he came to the holiday party at our house, but nobody likes that ass. My wife said “I get along with him just fine. I know who he is and what he is, so I just never expect anything more than that from him.”  You can decide how you are going to look at things to some extent.

I read a stoic post on a lions forum when they got ditched which I sort of felt sympathy for

“If it ever does happen for the Lions it still probably won't change our lives, Redwings, tigers, pistons winning never made me rich or got me laid more,”

Love that the Bills have driven the supporters to Buddhism though 😂
