What do you mean? Are they going to forfeit the season next year? How do they not recover?

This team knows exactly what they are facing in Kansas City.  They know more than any other team in the AFC.

Any "stashed" plays and schemes are going to be dusted off for this game.

Their whole season has come down to this and they have been planning for this all year.

The team now follows Josh 100% and Josh will not be denied.

Those other teams aren't defensive head coaches whose D gets obliterated by the same opponent consistently. Cincinnati's D did good against them in the two playoff games. SF D did good last year. Ravens D kept them in check last year despite Lamar screwing up.

Allen is putting up stats against them. It's McD's defense that has been the issue.

This is exactly the kind of ‘grass is greener’ stuff I’m talking about.  In your mind the SF defense played good and the offense let them down and the bills offense was high flying and let down by their defense? Final scores last year:

Chiefs: 27 Bills: 24

Chiefs: 25 49ers: 22

let’s just talk about how those three teams/hcs have fared against mahomes+kc that you implied are upgrades:

Shanahan: 0-5 career vs kc  0-2 playoffs

Taylor:       3-3 career vs kc   1-1 playoffs

**lost last 3 (1 playoff game) and fired DC

Harbaugh: 1-5 career vs kc.  0-1 playoffs

rolling those stats up into one, the teams you mentioned are 4-13 against KC (1-4 playoffs).  Just Harbaugh and Shanahan are 1-10 against them and even that one win was awfully lucky.  KC more or less had it sealed up and fumbled the game away.

Those 3 dudes combined have as many wins against KC in the mahomes era as just McD lol.  In the last two years, they are 0-7 and mcd is 2-1 with a shot at 3-1

it absolutely boggles my mind they get talked up with regards to kc and that some people around here have enough confidence in a completely unproven first time head coach to fire pretty much the only guy having any kind of success against kc in the league 😂

Reid would laugh his a** off if the bills fired mcd this year lol

Anyone not happy with the Bills this season needs an IQ upgrade,

We all read the endless stream of how we were taking a step back, losing all those veteran players, no #1 WR, etc etc, and yet here we are, there are “fans” out there and in here who constantly preach doom and gloom, all I can say is WTF is wrong with you people, 🤣

Nuthin but luv,

The same way they recovered from the 3 previous times.

Our primary competitor in the AFC has gone to 7 straight AFC Championships.  If they defeat us (again) on Sunday, they will have a chance to win their third straight Super Bowl and fourth overall with this QB and Head Coach combination.  And during roughly the same period of time, our team will have had only two appearances in the AFC Championship, still no Super Bowl appearances and of course no rings.

Another franchise can achieve that level of consistent and sustained greatness, and I'm supposed to be "happy" just getting past the Divisional Round?

I do not care what some goofs in the sports media said about our team in the preseason.  We have a future Hall of Fame quarterback in the absolute prime of his career.  If the roster talent around him is truly so inferior, then I want to know why Brandon Beane allowed it to happen.  Don't give me that garbage about the salary cap, aging players, etc.  The New England Patriots somehow managed to dominate the entire NFL for 18 straight years without falling off.  As mentioned, the Chiefs haven't missed a beat since Patrick Mahomes stepped under center.  Why can't we field a contender for 4-5 seasons before needing to blow everything up?

To the OP - I have no idea how old you are.  But I've been watching this team for 35+ years.  And I can tell you that all the playoff success in the world is totally empty without getting the Lombardi.  Looking back at the 90s teams brings me just as many painful memories as happy ones.  It shouldn't be that way.  Maybe you THINK you are good now.  But if this team cannot finish the job with Josh Allen as their QB, it will be an equal if not greater failure.

So no.  I'm not happy just having a good season.  Time to go win the whole *** thing.

I’m very mixed about this:

On the one hand I remember in December 2012 it got so bad fans were reminiscing about the 2004 in that at least their was meaningful games in December.  I’ll never forget that level of fan despair.  And keep being humbled by it.

On the other hand the team is like so so close

I think the OP is basically trying to say this is a House money game because they've exceeded expectations.   Maybe in 2020 it was.  Now it's not. This is the Championship of the AFC and it's a must-win.

HOF QB's don't miss the playoffs very often. Then Tua got hurt and Rogers was trash, which was never part of the initial forecasts. So it's interesting to me when people keep leveraging how nobody picked us to do a lot this year. WELP, just so turns out we probably have the MVP and every divisional rival we have was horrific. So if we knew we had the MVP and no competition what would be the baseline projection then? The pundits just missed the boat. This offense is the best we have had since the early 90's. It's been a fun year, but it's always about the Super Bowl. I don't know how a loss here would be anything short of incredibly disappointing. I mean christ, I have heard all year how the Chiefs suck. We have been building our roster against them for 5+ years.

Fair or not, the season is a failure for me if they can't get to the SB. It doesn't matter if they exceeded expectations. They are here now. Have a great opportunity. They've earned the right.

With an elite QB, you need to be able to get over the hump (KC) eventually. These opportunities aren't guaranteed each year. Losing 4/5 years to these guys just isn't acceptable for me.

Sorry.

The goal should be winning the Super Bowl every single season.  Anything less is a failure.

Rebuilding teams with new GMs and new coaches get a pass, because they are still working past the failures made by previous regimes.  So for example, you really couldn't judge Brandon Beane/Sean McDermott way back in 2017-2018, when most of the roster talent and locker room problems were created by Doug Whaley and Rex Ryan.

By now, those guys are responsible for everything involving how the Buffalo Bills are constructed from top to bottom.  If the talent at Defensive End isn't good enough, that is on Beane and the scouting department for not drafting good enough.  If the salary cap is an issue, he needs to own it.  He gave out the contracts.  If the players aren't being developed or utilized correctly, that is on the coaching staff.

Failing doesn't necessarily mean they need to be fired.  But it does mean that something isn't going right in the process, and must be re-evaluated.  We can't just keep falling short of the same team over and over, and then praise them like something was accomplished.

For a team that was projected to be second or third place in AFCEast.
A team that lost veteran safeties, a stud WR, other departures.

Win or lose vs KC, I’m at peace with our team.

If we win, awesome.
If we lose, it happens.

Im very relaxed about this year’s team. Can only get better.

NO, I don't appreciate participation trophies. We have Allen, and we have to win it all. Anything that comes up short will be dissapointiing. I  would never willingly reduce my expectations to "we'll get them next year". That's been Buffalo M.O. for decades...

Not a single thing but a SB win can put me at peace.

OK I know that, but nothing will bring me peace but a SB victory, and  coming up short once again will not fill me with some sort of "just wait till next year" pride.

I will not be happy if we lose to KC or in the SB.

Peyton Manning did not beat Tom Brady in the playoffs until he was in his 30's.   We can't have that be the case here.

Why? It worked out for Manning.

I don't think I said I'd be happy if they lost to KC or (if they make it to) the Superbowl.

But I will enjoy watching the game as entertainment, hope for a win, and if we lose...well, we still have an f'ing amazing team that will continue to succeed next year.

Our success is largely dependent upon a number of factors: players, coaches, weather and "how the ball bounces" (Fate).  All must align to beat KC.  I can say "we're due!!" all I want, but it doesn't change the fact only one team moves on. There is no "perfection" in the NFL. I have come to appreciate the games and the sport for what it is...entertainment.

Go Bills!

Yeah, I wouldn't go that far. I want them to win it all and I will be dissappinted if they don't. But I'm not going to allow football to impact me in negative ways. It is entertainment and I view it as such. The minute the game starts causing me undue amounts of stress and grief, I need to step away and reevaluate.
