RoscoeParrish Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Mcdermott’s defense continues to be an integral reason we have won two playoff games and are playing in Arrowhead Sunday night. We have now won the wild card and divisional round without Josh needing to be Superman. Something many have said was impossible given McDs limitations. His soft Nickel refusing to adjust choking defensive facts from the Ravens game: -The Bills blitzed Jackson on 15 of 31 dropbacks (48.4%), their 5th-highest blitz rate in a game under Sean McDermott and highest in a game since Week 15, 2021. -The Bills defense played man coverage on 46.7% of pass plays in the first half, the unit's highest rate since Week 12, 2022. -Bills played 3 LBs 33.3% of the plays last night. We saw several plays with Dorian as the Sam linebacker ON the line of scrimmage. -Derrick Henry 84 yards rushing. Lamar Jackson 39 yards rushing. 3 5 1 Quote

Toyo321 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago We can all say what we want but this teams D is by no means elite. Just go back and watch the replay of the last two passes & the touchdown throw Lamar had against us in the 4th qtr. There was not a Bills Defensive Line player within 5 yards of him when he made these throws. Our D is too volatile to be relied upon. We did not force a single punt by them. It was more Lamar and Andrews mistakes than us forcing them. Our D excels on some plays and is nowhere to be found on plays like these last two passes & that touchdown pass. Our D needs work in the offseason and in the draft. It is only average for a reason this season and it is what it is for the rest of the year. I never expected this team to get to the AFCCG this year with the talent we had, we did not sign any difference makers. Our Safeties and CB's are frankly very replaceable. I hate to say it but next year was the year many people thought that this team would be better because we will have money to sign FA players again, and have another draft. We are just along for the ride at this point. This track that this "D's" roller-coaster is on, is all over the place, all you can do is hold on for as long as this ride lasts. Not sure when it will end. We have to get a little help and not shoot ourselves in the foot for two more games. 1 Quote
SoTier Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago McDermott and Babich have taken a bunch of lemons and made some tasty lemonade. I don't think that there's anyone who believes that the Bills have a particularly talented defense, but they are probably one of the best coached defenses in the NFL this year. I don't care that the Ravens didn't punt on Sunday because 3 of their drives resulted in turn overs which yielded 10 of the Bills 27 points. Moreover, the Bills defense has regularly forced take aways all season and have done it against the best teams they've played including the Chiefs (2) and Lions (1) as well as the Ravens (3). 1 Quote
Mister Defense Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Even though I think the Bills will win the Super Bowl in about 3 weeks, I am just as eager for the off season and draft as ever, if not more so. With some great players added on defense now, they may be building the next NFL dynasty. Our head coach continues to prove he is one of the best defensive minds, and head coaches, in the NFL. The great stats you have chosen and show us are another example of how he has evolved as a coach. He is not just more aggressive in what he wants on offense, but much more willing to change things up, even dramatically, for games and in general, when it comes to any aspect of his team. I think what Josh has been saying publicly, that they are not going to reinvent the wheel come playoff time but do the same things well, was a smoke screen, subterfuge. I thought that after last week against Denver and seeing things such as many different running plays used etcetera. Against the bluebirds this past week, on both defense and offense, it is clear that the Bills will make any changes they need to beat their next opponent. And to win it all. That is growth, just as one would expect from a man with his ability and integrity. Against his old boss, mentor, next week, I cannot wait to see what he will have in store. DabillsDaBillsDaBills Posted 29 minutes ago Posted 29 minutes ago Obviously it wasn't a disaster, but it would have been without the turnovers. We forced 0 punts in the entire game. ZERO punts. Ravens were 7/10 on 3rd down. One of those stops turned into a 4th down that the Ravens converted and the other 2 were FGs. We allowed 177 rushing yards on 29 attempts (excluding end of 1st half kneel down). The 3 forced turnovers make this a moderately bad defensive game. Without the turnovers this is a historically bad defensive game 1 1 1 Quote
