gonzo1105 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago When the season is on the line I fully expect these guys to play. I know I know it shouldn’t be that way but it is. I know there is a protocol as well but stuff can be fudged 1 Quote
Big Blitz Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Chiefs had that extra day rest we don’t. Convenient. Quote

We see hockey players missing weeks and weeks. Boxers and MMA have to take 90+ days off any contact in training... and in the NFL they play the next week! Hopefully, they really monitor these guys. Shaw66 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I haven't watched the replay of the onside kick, but I don't think it happened on that play. It happened sometime earlier, around the Bills 40 yard-line, near the Ravens' bench. I don't recall the hit, but I saw him getting up after a play and he didn't look right at all. He seemed to be unsure himself, stood up, and made sure he had his balance before he started walking back to the huddle. Breaking the huddle, he was hesitant, as though he wasn't sure where he was supposed to go. I was surprised that when he got up some official didn't send him off the field, or someone watching it in the booth. I didn't go back to watching him after that. 18 minutes ago, Big Blitz said: Chiefs had that extra day rest we don’t. Convenient. It's one of the benefits of the bye. The bye is a huge benefit. First, you get a week off. Then, you're likely to get one of the weakest teams in the bracket, the #4 seed or lower, while the #2 seed has to play #3. Then, you get an extra day's rest. There shouldn't be that much benefit to getting the bye. This past weekend, the AFC should have played two games on the same day, and the NFL played two on the other day. 1 Quote

And no way CB would've stayed silent. CB injured his arm/shoulder near the Ravens sideline, seemed like he was thinking of coming off then gutted it out/maybe just fell on it wrong. As for playing both AFC games on same day, only way for that to have happened would've been to play Buffalo on Saturday...which is a clear disadvantage vs Bmore. Remember, the Rams had to play Sunday since they won on MNF in wild card round. Sorry not meaning to come at ya, 1st is opinion 2nd is facts. 1 Quote

I don't think anyone can state when the injury happened with any certainty. By the testimony of two other posters in this short topic, Benford didn't look like himself on the 2 point conversion attempt. I sure hope he suits up for KC... he's by far our best cover man and a good run defender as well. Quote

They should have flipped the divisional round games to Sunday for the 1 seeds…I mean they already went 14 days between games, might as well make it 15. That way you can have your 1 seeds potentially playing the following Sunday, allowing for the teams who have been slugging it out a extra days rest. If the NFL truly wants parity, they’ll need to update the format Quote

When Coach specifically says it happened on the onside kick, then I'd tend to trust that, plus what I mentioned before. To me, he looked fine on the 2 point play. Bills were in man coverage, his man ran a slant/inside route to pick the safety. Benford looked like he knew what was happening, but couldn't leave his man to make a play. 1 Quote
Baba Booey Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago He’s gonna be fine. Just precautionary and will be playing on Sunday. Ray Davis got destroyed in the Denver game and was playing on Sunday. Quote

I was just reporting on what I saw, because it looked odd. As for the bye schedule, they'd have to adjust the first week, too. It just shouldn't be the case that the #1 seed gets an extra day's rest against the #2. Quote

I don't know how you adjust the first week either. Play Buffalo (a 2 seed), on 6 days rest? Just doesn't make sense. I get the extra day of rest thing. But NFL teams operate on a 7 day turnaround for a high majority of their games all season. I care more about keeping our routine, versus another team getting 24 hrs of rest. So again, the solution isn't as simple as you imply. You control what you control, Ravens had the extra day of rest too. You roll with the minor imperfections of scheduling. Quote

My point is that the current system creates multiple benefits to the team with the bye, and I think it's too much. By the time you get to one versus two, the only benefit should be home field. Quote

Again I'm not attacking you. My point is that I don't believe 1 extra day of rest is that much of a benefit, minimal IMO. More impactful if Buffalo has to deviate from their normal schedule, 7 days, which they don't. Is it unfair to Philly that they're the 2 seed vs the 6 seed Commanders, and Washington has 1 extra day of rest? Too many people making it a big deal IMO. Quote

We're just talking. Suppose KC's best corner back had a concussion on Saturday, just like Benford on Sunday. You don't think that extra day couldn't be a big deal? I do. Every KC player who got dinged on Saturday has an extra day to recover. That's real. Again, my real point only is that the cumulative benefit of the number 1 seed is too much and should be adjusted.
