My head explodes when it's 2nd & 1, 3rd & 1, or 4th & 1 and the Bills don't do the Tush Push.  It's darn near automatic and they usually end up getting 2 or 3 yards on the play.  That 4th quarter drive last night where they kicked the late field goal to go up 8 is a great example.  They should have Tush Pushed and they probably are in the end zone and could have saved me the end-of-game angina.

Don't get cute... Just run the Tush Push for the love of Almighty God!!!

I thought there would be more talk about the spot of the ball on that 3rd down & goal at the end. I thought it should have been on the 1 - and they spotted it on the 2.

Made a huge difference. If it's on the 1, it's almost certainly a TD, and no one is talking about dropped 2-point conversions today.

In 1 yard situations, yes. Every time. But the frustrating thing is a lot of these situations we find ourselves in are 2 or 2 plus.

3rd and Goal from just beyond the 2 is not a given we're going to get enough push. Especially at the Goal Line and with that defensive front. In hindsight do I wish we would have tried that instead of what we ran? Sure. But that's just bc we know how it went with the play they chose.

But honestly, from the spot we were at (which was a rough spot btw) - I wouldn't have called a tush push either. Though I wouldn't have called the play we went with either. I'd have went with an under center handoff with Ray Davis.

And if we did go for a Tush Push on 3rd and didn't get in - I'd still have Kicked the FG rather than going for it on 4th anyways. This was the most situational of Situational Football.. situations. Is it possible we got it on 4th and the game was over right there? Sure.

You know what else could have happened? We could have been stopped again. And if that happened - we lose the game. Plain and simple. Simply not worth the risk.

I don’t have a problem with the play, it was more there was no disguise, the Ravens knew exactly what was coming, and the shotgun snap gave them enough time to penetrate the line and hold Josh up.   If they wanted to run that play, I personally would’ve had Josh line up for the tush push, and then when the Ravens set their defense, have Josh “audible” into the gun, and then run the play, bc atleast you’re now sowing the seed of doubt into the Ravens D that this may not just be 17 up the middle after all… or even better, go RPO from the two. I’d like to see more RPO in general with the short passing game being utilized so much anyway.

Agree. I thought it was a bad spot.

McD going for the FG in that position was the right call......i hated the idea of a FG over a TD, but if the Bills didn't get the points there, then the Ravens would have went down the field and won.

McD is learning when to be aggressive and when to just take the points.

I have no problem with it.

Yup agreed. It was definitely the right call at the time and proved to be . I disagee lots with McDermott on his decisions but this one was a good one

TO me it all depends on the yardage . When they went for the FG in the 4th i think that was a good call because it was 2+ yds and the Ravens D was ready plus if they went for it and missed the Bills would be the ones sitting home next week watching the AFC Championship game .

I would say if they were going to give Josh another chance after the failed attempt i think they should have called it lined up like it was going to be the tush push but josh should get it and run around the end because the D would be expecting the tush push again and throw a twist into it .

Who knows they may be saving that for this game . So cudos to McD for making the call to go for the points !!!

A vision of us tush pushing to beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl just popped into my head.  The sweet irony if we beat them at their own game.

We got two bad spots. At the 2 instead of the 1 and then they marked Josh back another half yard after the 3rd down stop.

Could have tush pushed anyway on 3rd and 2 but I'd have had to be inside 6 inches to do it on 4th down.

I was yelling for the challenge. In most situations challenging to win one yard seems insignificant. But making it 3&1 vs 3&2 would have put the team at a much higher percentage of scoring the TD, and icing the game.

It's been noticeable since late in the season the refs are spotting the ball about half yard back from where it appears they should.  For both teams.  I thought maybe my eyes are going bad.  I know it gets placed where the ball is when the knee is down,

I was screaming at McD to challenge the spot. I looked back on replay and it was like a 1/2 yard off. Still it would have been on the 2 instead of the 2.5 and maybe we go straight tush push two times in a row, like Romo said.

I'm sorry if you're willing to risk going for 4th in that situation then I wouldn't trust you to walk across the street on your own.

Like I refuse to give credit to McDermott for taking the FG in this situation because it such a blatantly obvious thing to do

You can't challenge a spot just for a spot. It hasw to be challenging if the player got into the EZ/1st down

my understanding is that you can challenge the spot, but you will technically lose because it's not a TD or 1st. They will still fix the spot, but you'll lose your TO. I went back and watched on tv, and I don't think the spot was as bad as most of us thought last night.

Though I won't commit to that position without seeing video on my computer where I can more effectively slow it down and freeze frame.

My only concern with this is that we would be giving the other teams too much practice at stopping the play.
