Chugga Posted Monday at 10:50 PM Posted Monday at 10:50 PM The current Lions feel very much like the 2021 Bills. 2021 felt like our best chance at a Super Bowl. We were dominant in the regular season and the whole league was looking at both of our coordinators to be head coaches. After an absolutely heartbreaking early playoff exit, that offseason we lost Daboll and it felt like maybe we missed our shot. For the sake of the Lions and their fans I hope they are able to reload like we have been able to. Quote

Losing a HC blows up the entire organization (a fact lost on most on this board, regrettably). Losing an OC is usually losing one guy. 3 Quote
frostbitmic Posted Monday at 11:26 PM Posted Monday at 11:26 PM I think the Bears got this one right, time will tell. Johnson has a top 2nd year QB, a good 2nd yr WR, vets at WR, RB and TE. He needs to build a line and find the right DC. 1 Quote

Talent is all over that roster and a lot of it is young. Line needs improvement but so does Caleb and his recognition in game clock. He doesn’t do them favors. Darnell Wright was solid in most of the games I watched of theirs, the left tackle wasn’t atrocious either. would immediately be looking to upgrade the interior of the line ASAP. 1 Quote
jethro_tull Posted Monday at 11:47 PM Posted Monday at 11:47 PM The armchair media is so excited and they have no effin idea if he will be any good. This is basically a Hire by Media consensus. The sports radio talk shows have been stroking BJ pretty much 24/7 since they fired Eberfluss. Who was it that said if you listen to the fans you'll be sitting with them? Same thing for the Media. Amazing how OCs look so good when they have all pro offensive players. Quote

This is an overly simplistic take. Johnson has been there for several years now, and he definitely led that offense that was putrid to one of the top offenses in the game. Doesn’t mean he can run a team, but he is certainly deserving of a shot and it has nothing to do with the media or fans 2 Quote

SirAndrew Posted yesterday at 12:09 AM Posted yesterday at 12:09 AM I don’t think the Bears are a great job, because I think they need a new front office before they can turn things around. Quote

NewEra Posted yesterday at 12:36 AM Posted yesterday at 12:36 AM Good. If we weren’t going to get him, I’m happy that he went to the NFC 1 Quote

I’d imagine if Frazier got a gig too he’d would have taken a few guys with him as well. Quote

For the sake of the Lions and their fans I hope they are able to reload like we have been able to. Detroit had a lot of injuries, especially on the defensive side of the ball. That will help to get all of those guys back at least. The next OC needs to be someone in the same style as Johnson. The big difference between us and Detroit, the guy slinging the rock out there. Goff could just as easily come back down to earth, where pretty much nothing has stopped Josh. 40 or more total TD's in 5 straight seasons. Daboll, Dorsey, Brady, it doesn't matter who has been at the helm. I think who the OC is affects Goff more. Quote

There is talent there and a supposed franchise guy and that’s what Johnson should have been looking for. Wonder what this means for Poles future down the line Agreed. And I would rather be in that division than a division that has Mahomes in (if he took the Raiders job). Quote

One of my close fans is a diehard Bears fan as he grew up there, and knows the line is a huge problem. They have lots of weapons and even some defensive talent. Their biggest problems are ownership, (cheap), the HC and the line. Johnson looks like the right fit and this is an attractive team. Big Ben made the right call. The Jets are trying to sell their team on the Lions DC. Campbell will have to build it again. 1 Quote

This year was their shot. I think they probably have 1 (maybe 2 with restructures) more year with the team as its constructed, but losing the coordinators is definitely a big setback. They don't have the QB for that to not have an effect on their offense. Quote
