Overrated??? This is a good point. But I'll ask this... How much does Harbaugh's coaching have to do with 9 of his players being name All Pros? Good coaches get the best out of their players. Bad coaches get the worst. 1 1 Quote

I knew Henry would get some yards and i knew we would focus on him, however, i am thankful that we never really had to worry about the RPO cause i don't know if we could have stopped it. If our D had to focus on stopping the King AND the RPO, i'd like to think we were ready for it, however, i'm not so sure and thank christ we never needed to find out. I'm guessing the weather had something to do with it. I think you guys are selling McDermott & Babich, especially the D players short. The Bills were ready for what the Ravens do and had excellent plan. The players sold out with their effort, the whole unit from the line to the secondary. Jones and Oliver probably had their best half game of the year. Hamlin really stepped up. In terms of rpo, watch an example at 4:29 mark of the video below. #94 played perfect watching the exchange between Lamar and Henry without committing too much either way, much like the Ravens DE played Josh and Cook at the end of the game offensive series on that last 3rd down. The 2nd half is a different story. I'll say the Ravens adjusted quicker than the Bills, especially on defense. The Bills had success on offense in the first half so no reason to do too much adjustment. A lot of people also mentioned Allen was not having his best game and you can see some of the misses in the first half. The plan was for the Bills to go up by 3 scores to force the Ravens abandon their run. It didn't happen. The Ravens offense went with big personnel but used Hill who is more shifty in short space than Henry to loosen up the Bills run defense. It worked and the Bills smallish D started to wear down. The Ravens scored every possession in the 2nd half except the Bernard's forced fumble. I don't know how much better the Ravens offense could be in the second half by using Henry more. 4 minutes ago, hondo in seattle said: This is a good point. But I'll ask this... The difference is their best players - Lamar and Andrews committed 4 big mistakes (I consider Andrews 2 pt drop as a mistake) while the Bills best players played clean. 2 Quote
Billsfanatic8989 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Harbaugh and McD are very similar. Both very good coaches. But not quite the elite of the elite who can consistently outcoach top tier teams. Both getting heat for not getting it done in the postseason. Quote

Did you loose by accident? You could say the Bills played well enough to win, too. Except we did win, and his team didn't. It's kind of a meaningless, consolation prize thing to say. A lot of people are equating Andrews makes that catch, with "Ravens win", and I understand how that feels, emotionally. 2 Quote

I'm sure that if the Ravens were committed to running the ball in the 2nd half, I don't think we would have stopped much. Lucky for us, the Ravens went away from Henry and relied on Lamar's arm. going away from Henry was a totally bizarre choice. They out thought themselves. perhaps afraid they would run out of time and we would unleash alien-Allen and match all of Henry's scores? 1 Quote

They scored on every possession outside of the Andrews fumble (which was actually a big gainer for them). If you mean they abandoned the run in the first half for a time, then you might have a point. Keep in mind that we didn't force a single punt all game. Their offense went through us like a knife through butter the entire game. The only thing that stopped them was the uncharacteristic turnovers (granted, our defenders made great individual plays to force them). Edited 14 hours ago by TheBrownBear 2 Quote

They also aren't straying too far from the system that seems to be working for them, however, i'm sure KC is taking notes. They can take notes all they want to, but the vulnerability of the KC offensive line is a major problem that they can't overcome. They are 22nd in rushing offense and the same as us in passing offense. We have a much better offensive line than they do. This is the most vulnerable KC has been and the best the Bills have been overall. McD has done so much to adapt and overcome that I am impressed. This has to be OUR time. Though I will say we were really struggling to move the ball in the second half, so I do see a scenario where we get stuffed and it goes to overtime. But yes, all an Andrews catch does there is keep the Ravens alive. It doesn't guarantee anything beyond that. 1 Quote

Facts: Henry rush in 1st half 8 for 21 yds Henry rush in 2nd half 8 for 63 yds Lamar rush in 1st half 5 for 31 yds Lamar rush in 2nd half 1 for 9 yds They didn't "go away from Henry". He had pretty good success against us in the 2nd half as we were short-handed a bit on D with Rapp out and Milano missing some snaps. 7.9 YPC to be exact If theres a rusher they did go away from in the 2nd half, it was Lamar. They turned a little towards Justice Hill, who had 4 rushes for 30 yds in the 2nd half (2 for 20 in the 1st half). IMO, they decided that the Bills seemed to have a pretty good plan for the RPO so they moved away from it a bit. And you can't say that what they did, didn't work. The Ravens had 182 net yards in the 1st half, 10 first downs. They had 234 net yards in the 2nd half, 13 first downs. They scored 10 points in the 1st half, 15 points in the 2nd half. Objectively, what the Ravens did in the 2nd half offensively, worked better. 28 minutes ago, DaVinci said: I can understand how that feels "emotionally " but that is not a fact . BigAl2526 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago John Harbaugh is a really good coach. What I wonder though is why coaches wait until halftime make adjustments if what they're doing isn't working. Certainly, if Harbaugh had inserted a "heavy" lineup early in the second quarter, it might have made a difference in what Derrick Henry was able to do. On any case, I'm glad they didn't and the game worked out the way it did. Quote

I think it was because we went up 2 scores with not much time left. I recall thinking that the ravens could not afford another run drive becaue it would take too much time and, sure enough, the ravens went to the pass to conserve time. Quote
The Cincinnati Kid Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Adjustments happen all of the time. Throughout the game. Could anyone imagine the WR coach picking up a definite defensive tendency from the opponent at the end of the second drive in the first quarter and sitting on it till halftime? What are they talking about on the headsets? When the plane leaves? What’s on tap? Good golly. Halftime adjustments are for socks. Edited 6 hours ago by The Cincinnati Kid 1 Quote

They don’t…sometimes it takes that long to come up with a good counterpunch though and I really don’t think Lamar was prepared for the extra linebacker and all the blitzes. I really don’t believe Harbaugh had a good week of preparation or a particularly good night of gameday coaching. He got there eventually but it took way too long Edited 6 hours ago by Generic_Bills_Fan Quote
The Cincinnati Kid Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Anyone watch Hard Knocks and wonder what in the world they could be talking about at all those meetings??? Contingency plans. If Buffalo goes to 3 Backers and 4 DL against our 21 personnel we want to attack that with these formations and plays. If they stay Nickel, we will do these formations and plays. Let’s watch the tape of the Bills defending against our formations and make sure we all know who to block, which way to turn our mark, etc, etc, etc. It doesn’t take NFL staffs til halftime to come up with a counterpunch. It takes Jim Nantz till halftime to talk about it. The Primevision TV Cast on TNF is so good because it’s All-22 instead of the stupid typical TV broadcast where you cannot see anything except the QB in the pocket. Viewers have NO IDEA what is happening in a football game. Irks me. I need a breather. Excuse me. Quote
