"calling out the chiefs" has become an easy way for media members to get attention and claiming the refs don't have bias but are equally bad for all teams is the surest way to be hated and called a clown. no other team in the league has fans that all come together to create frame-by-frame replays, zoomed-in images and super slow motion videos quite like the chiefs. because of this, the chiefs flags draw outsized attention/coverage/reaction. people simply don't care if there's a bad call in a panthers or colts game. interestingly, america defended the chiefs in the 2018 afc championship game when two and possibly three rotten calls went against them to help the patriots win the game. but at that point in time, america loved mahomes and the chiefs and were alleging that the patriots got all the calls and that the nfl was cheating for them. next time you watch a bills game and see a bad call - whether it be the atrocious call against dawkins or the questionable pass interference penalty that benefited coleman in the ravens game - just ask yourself: "what if this was the chiefs?" because those calls, while they got some attention, generated very little media coverage broadly. and the PI flag, whether it was right or wrong, was probably the biggest call of the game in terms of win expectancy. Great analysis but how many times has Jamaal Taylor been lined up behind the line of scrimmage or rocked back before the snap, taken a few snaps and not been flagged? I mean I know he's the most flagged player in the league the last few seasons but truth is he doing far more than he getting flagged for. Edited 15 hours ago by The Jokeman Quote

Did you see the call against Dawkins? It could not have been more obvious that it was a crooked call. Why is this happening? Taylor Swift is bringing in untold advertising money, as well as viewers. The woman is a world wide phenom, a 2025 answer to the 1965 Beatles. The NFL is cashing in on it, thus the favorable calls. That said, the above is getting to be a popular opinion, or so I think. I don't think that they can keep favoring the Chiefs without losing a ton of integrity and fans getting dusgusted. This is why I think that the Bills are going to soundly defeat the Chiefs on Sunday. We are better than they are and the refs won't hold us back. At least I hope not. As always, the above is merely my opinion. I am not asking anyone to agree with me. ONTO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!! MrEpsYtown Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago The roughing the passer stuff is annoying, but on some level I get it. The last second slide, or slowing up on the sideline is just very bush league and childish. So it's annoying to watch refs fall for that garbage. The problem is the offensive holding and defensive holding that the Chiefs constantly get away with. It changes games. The offensive holding thy got away with last playoffs was awful and egregious. It seems that every third-down incomplete pass from Mahomes is accompanied by a late flag for some BS holding. The football Gods need to take their penance. Chiefs need to suffer. 1 Quote

zow2 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) I think Mahomes has gotten his calls, but in general, especially the playoffs I feel like the home team is gifted some calls, or beneficial non-calls. We only had 1 penalty on Sunday, and it was a bad call. anyone think the Bills had no other infractions in that game? I saw a couple that were let go. I'm hoping that's the case in KC. I feel like in our game there was a correction of sorts and the refs let them play more. Edited 14 hours ago by zow2 Quote
JESSEFEFFER Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Josh takes a borderline hit and embellishes its effect on him so that the referee will feel the pressure to drop the flag. He will also hold the ball to the last possible moment where the hit is immanent but he can still release the ball cleanly, thus creating a borderline hit. Very rare for Josh to take a hit that he did not see coming but he chooses not to avoid many of them at the cost of missing the play. Mastering QB time and space. Quote
Philly McButterpants Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) FWIW, Chiefs Planet is all up in arms that Blakeman is the ref on Sunday. Also, does anyone remember "Hot Dog Stand" from Windows 3.1? Edited 14 hours ago by Philly McButterpants 3 Quote

beebe Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago the refs have zero incentive - none - to intentionally get calls wrong. they are graded after every game internally, and fans and media grade them publicly. being wrong leads to less opportunity to call playoff games and super bowls. do people actually think the nfl is going to tell clete blakeman and his crew to cheat for the chiefs? for what purpose? so they can cultivate more swiftie viewers in the short term while jeopardizing the long term? (ie scandal, lack of trust, gambling ramifications etc.) this would be literal criminal behavior if such a thing took place. it would be game fixing directed by the league to be carried out by the people charged with maintaining fair play. officiating is incredibly hard. there’s a subset of national tv games every year that have so many 50/50 bang-bang subjective/judgment calls that it’s almost comical. like, the refs are wrong no matter what they call. the broadcasters think A, the rules experts think B, and the fans are going to think whatever benefits their team, goes against the team they hate or whatever helps their bets. most people who opine about the rules don’t even know the rulebook themselves (i have watched 1000+ games and i don’t know all the rules myself.) bitching about refs has gone too far. it’s too frequently the story because slow motion replay, freeze frames and instant reaction social media takes - often by the most conspiratorial morons on earth - makes it the story. once you accept that missed calls are inevitable and random, you will enjoy watching sports more.
