I actually agree with OP, Taron Johnson has been worse this season than his usual self. Especially in coverage he’s getting beat. I’m going to chalk it up to suffering a bad injury in-season. Blame it on Rapp. Hopefully he’s back to his All-Pro self next season.

Also, he’s wayyy better than Cam Lewis in the same position even if he isn’t playing up to his typical high standard.

He got cooked badly on the last drive multiple times...including the TD to Likely

I expect much better from him next game

Or else!    😊

Everybody has ups and downs, let’s hope a bunch of guys start having a couple career games.

Our corners need actual safety help. They get NONE. Hamlin actually interfered with TJ off the jump on one ply. He’s absolutely horrible in coverage and it’s insane that he keeps being put in as a starter. Hyde needs to be in for 2 more games alongside Bishop if Rapp is hurt

Hamlin is terrible in coverage, if it’s Hamlin and bishop next week. 😬

Hamlin can’t be out there deep anymore. Play close to the line or get off the field please

Hamlin, threw his little body at Derrick Henry, and prevented him from scoring a touchdown. I'm starting to rethink Hamlin's ability.

Hamlin was genuinely quite good in this game, he just had the one really bad play that jumped out. He had several great run stops including that almost home run you mention, and showed excellent technique to bring Lamar down in a disadvantageous 1v1 situation which led to a turnover. He gets all the criticism but he just keeps doing what he's supposed to.

Really impossible to judge anyone in our secondary since our defensive line gets no pressure and our strategy is to let the opposing offense do whatever they like and hope turnovers appear out of thin air, which, to be fair, they did yesterday.

At the end of the first half the Baltimore O was completely rattled. That last possession where the Bills were basically pulling a page from the Ravens/Chiefs books of showing blitz from anywhere and everywhere and coming/bailing from various spots was completely flummoxing them. I don't know why they got out of that the 2nd half, probably to do with down/distance/field position situations. The final drive I disagreed with doing the contain rush to that extreme degree. Let Lamar run it at that point - he's as apt to lay the ball on the ground as throw a pick anyway, and better that than giving him 15 seconds to scan the field for an open white jersey.

IMHO he was trying to play the ball and misjudged its trajectory (which is why DBs play defense and are not WR).

He was playing for a pick, instead of doing his job as a safety

You see guys get catches on him on plays the pass rush does not get any pressure which happens a lot.  He plays zone too......your perception is not well founded IMO.

The whole bills dline got pancaked immediately like three times in a row on that last drive haha idk if we got caught with subs in or what.  I find it hard to blame taron for anything down the stretch in that game

I was sure that was gonna be a pick watching him line that up from the stands 😂. Looked like an outfielder misjudging a deep fly ball in my softball league lol

That’s the point. He doesn’t know how to do his job as a safety in coverage. He’s a liability. Sure he can tackle and plays the run well but that’s what 2 down LBers can do as well. Reid is going to target him all day if he’s out there

That's quite the generalization.  Hamlin has faced a lot of criticism this year for "doing his job" as a safety by making sure he keeps everything in front of him, at the cost of allowing some completions and yards.  Now you want to say he "doesn't know how to do his job" because on one play he didn't keep everything in front of him but went for the pick.

Can't be both ways.

I thought it was gonna be a pick myself.

It’s not one play. It’s more often than not. I’ve been saying it all year. He’s our weakest link in pass coverage. He consistently leaves corners on islands. Thankfully we have really good corners
