A lot of us stopped listening to WGR long ago.

True story.

Besides, how much of what is discussed, even when it's relevant, is actually insightful.

The drunk callers are the best part. Our local radio does not take callers on any of the shows.

Drunks are passionate about their pigskin banter.

I like WGR.

I listen every day and I’m way out of town, downstate. I gotta go out of my way to listen to it and the station is horrendous. It’s part of my bills season routine so I’ll keep doing it but these kids are terrible. Some of the least knowledgeable humans on earth when it comes to sports. Not even out of just sports radio guys….out of just people in general. Jeremy has always been terrible. I can’t remember the last time he made a point that I agreed with. The station is so unprofessional it’s inexcusable. I live an hour from NYC. This garbage would not fly down here. These people know absolutely nothing

With respect, you cannot be serious. WFAN is an umitigated disaster. You may not love the sports talk on WGR, but at least its sports talk, not a bunch of bald idiots trying to come up with some sort of combination between Stern and Mad Dog.

I like WGR, mostly. Its a pretty good cast of characters and mostly serious sports talk. People in WNY should be happy you have a decent sports station in town. As I noted above, WFAN is a shell of its former self. Its really sad.

WGR is just like every other “local” sports radio station around the country…WFAN, WEEI, WSCR, take your pick. A mixed bag of hosts, an even more mixed bag of callers (heavily weighted towards shut-ins and “hot take” tough guy wanna-bes), and waaayyy too much sports betting content.

I usually listen weekday early mornings commuting to work via the Audacy app. As a Buffalo ex-pat, this is my only realtime connection to Buffalo sports. I find the morning show a mixed bag but overall very listenable.

when I listen to the afternoon duo on my commute home, more often then not I find myself changing to a podcast or music…those guys are just too old and crotchety for me (and I am an old and crotchety guy myself).

I dunno, I usually enjoy listening to WGR fwiw…sure there are some crazies out there, but I feel like generally the hosts do a passable to good job with it all. There are lots of hours to fill, unlike podcast creators who can curate/edit their shows at will.

The quality of the afternoon show dropped when Greg Bauch (producer) left.  What was generally an interesting and creative show disappeared.  The fact Bauch left for a job at the Talking Phone Book of Western New York shows what Entercom was paying off air staff.

My listening now is generally reduced to the reverse AFC power rankings on Tuesday afternoons during football season.

Same boat.  I listen everyday at work during the football season out of habit and to maintain some connection with Bills/Buffalo football culture from 3000 miles away.  Schopp and Bulldog are terrible 90% of the time with the occasional good take, but I neither care nor want to hear about your gambling habits (this and fantasy have largely ruined the sports commentary industry in general).  J and J sound like a couple of dumb kids who stumbled upon a mike in their parents' basement. "Brownie" and Tasker are annoying homers, but at least their show attracts the odd listenable/knowledgeable guest.  IMO, Sal's the best of the bunch.  Just comes across as a normal, knowledgeable guy, who exasperatingly struggles to rein in the inanity of WGR's mouth-breathing callers.

One bonus to WGR and its callers - I grew up in Buffalo (moved away in late teens) and would sometimes make fun of the Buffalo accent with my kids.  They're like, "What does the Buffalo accent even sound like?". I tell them it's hard to explain, but you can pick it up in the way people pronounce their "A's", not everyone has it, and some are worse than others. Finally, the other day I made some comment about it again and my boys asked me to do it for them and then I said, "Hold up.  Listen to this", and I pulled out my phone, pulled up Extra Point on Spotify and played a random caller into Sal's show. The kids laughed and said, "that's the voice that you and Grandpa use when telling jokes and pretending to be morons." So there you go.

I listen to WGR out of habit and background noise at the office, but I completely skip One Bills Live when it comes on at 1. It's a show completely devoid of discussion. The calls are all "X player is the greatest in the league I love the Bills we're number one" rah-rah nonsense. Tasker and Glab are cheerleaders for the team, nothing more.

All i know is that every tv station and radio program is talking about how the Ravens lost the game and not how the Bills won it.

...........disgusting.

I believe it was Nick Wright, of all people, who just pointed out the last time Lamar had multiple turnovers in a game was last year losing the AFCCG. It does seem like a lot of “the Ravens blew it” talk, but that little nugget jumped out at me. THAT is your MVP in the playoffs. I want Josh to win SB MVP, That’s the one that counts.

With all the podcasts available, WGR is no longer needed.

There's way too much as it is and the number keeps increasing.  At some point it's all noise.
