WGR this morning

I enjoy the morning show.  
 

Jeremy and Joe do a good job.  
 

 

The 3pm show is such a disgrace and embarrassment I stopped listening over a decade ago.

And then out of that group, think of the person who has nothing else going on in their life but to call into a sports radio show and sit on hold for hours, and how they got into that position in their lives. Not the best of the bunch here.

I listen to it in podcast form a day late on my commute to the office on the London underground. So today's show will be tomorrow morning for me. 

 

The presenters are meh, the callers are hilariously bad.

I’ve always appreciated your hot takes. Even when I don’t agree with them. But this is pretty accurate.

I listened while I was out shoveling. He’s got great analysis, has a simple rule “have a good take”, and he loves the team. That’s what I want from a sports radio host.

we have so many choices of viewing and listening options. There is no reason to put up with suckage. It is our time at stake. Our Limited time I might add.

 

as  a side note I just  try to tune out riff raff and keep it moving. mental storage limited and only available for quality input NO PIFFLE. that includes especially media 

 

that's what it boils down to as far as Im concerned

I don't know I have heard Joe say things like spending resources on defenses is dumb, they should all be spent on offense.  He has sad "defense shemefense" and other things like "I don't need them to run the ball, you gain more yards per pass than yards per run so you should almost always pass".  They reference EPA and efficiency stats but cannot provide good context, they use them like its gospel.  Anyone using the phrases "complementary football" and "balance" on offense means they are dumb and the football world passed them by.  This year has been better but Joe in particular does not seem knowledgeable to me.  The guys on the extra point show M-T are a complete joke.

I moved to Indiana and WGR provides a link to Buffalo sports.  There are days where the people on WGR are very annoying.  I tune out.   The two in the morning are the worst.  Having traveled the Midwest and listening to sports radio on my drives, the quality of this format has decreased in the past decade.  Must be a generational thing.  Kind of like me yelling at them to get off my lawn.

Joe got the job and is pulling a Haynesworth now. 

He doesn't acknowledge or learn anything that happened before he watched sports. Maybe it's because i grew up in an era where NFL yearbook type of programs existed. I turn it off when they get stupid, and i don't mean the segment they run. Their personal lives are more important than their professional lives and that's ok but be professional. The real problem is that as long as they show up and do something, there is no one around to take their jobs.

But WGR had Jeremy Conn on from Baltimore on Friday and he couldn’t provide any insight into the Ravens other than they have good players.

 

Raiders 920 AM is JT the Brick, it’s not good.

 

Tony Rizzo out of Cleveland has a good morning show that is fun. 

Lions 97.1 is pretty good - they bring in a bunch of people.

 

Cincinnati only has the afternoon show with Mo Eger - but college is such a bigger part of the Cincinnati scene.

This morning show is awful and the callers are even worse. Maybe everyone is sobering up, or maybe they’re still drinking. But Jeremy and Joe are hard to listen to. You aren’t kidding.  I can’t listen to Jeremy and Joe.  I think Jeremy was fine as Howard Simon’s co-host but I don’t like the current show.  
 

I think callers are a big problem.  I’m not sure if they can’t get people to call in or whether they just aren’t able to find someone that makes a good point.  

 

This morning with Sal, he took a call from someone who said it was rare that the Bills won despite the yardage discrepancy (it happened in the 3 other divisional games), some older guy called in and said “Bills need to be better in the red zone” (they were 3/4 yesterday).  Then a caller said he was traveling to Hong Kong for Lunar New Year and would be watching the game at 7 :00 AM.  
 

Sal probably would have been better off not taking calls - I just wonder if Jeremy & Joe did the same thing.
