Big Blitz Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I enjoy the morning show. Jeremy and Joe do a good job. The 3pm show is such a disgrace and embarrassment I stopped listening over a decade ago. 1 4 Quote

Now, think about the type of Bills fan who wakes up in the morning and thinks "I'll call into WGR and complain about a Bills playoff win not being good enough." And then out of that group, think of the person who has nothing else going on in their life but to call into a sports radio show and sit on hold for hours, and how they got into that position in their lives. Not the best of the bunch here. Quote

I still listen, but local talk radio has declined quite a bit, and that's everywhere, not just locally (I'm in Rochester). Ps, I'm not a huge hockey fan to begin with, but when they have Paul Hamilton on, I immediately change it, I just cannot listen to him for whatever reason Or Marty on the show at noon. But, between the Sabres nonsense and the fantasy football crap, I like OBL. 1 Quote
GunnerBill Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I listen to it in podcast form a day late on my commute to the office on the London underground. So today's show will be tomorrow morning for me. The presenters are meh, the callers are hilariously bad. Quote

I gotta go out of my way to listen to it and the station is horrendous. It’s part of my bills season routine so I’ll keep doing it but these kids are terrible. Some of the least knowledgeable humans on earth when it comes to sports. Not even out of just sports radio guys….out of just people in general. Jeremy has always been terrible. I can’t remember the last time he made a point that I agreed with. The station is so unprofessional it’s inexcusable. I live an hour from NYC. This garbage would not fly down here. These people know absolutely nothing I’ve always appreciated your hot takes. Even when I don’t agree with them. But this is pretty accurate. 1 hour ago, MikePJ76 said: Sal is already great this morning. I listened while I was out shoveling. He’s got great analysis, has a simple rule “have a good take”, and he loves the team. That’s what I want from a sports radio host. 1 2 Quote

A long time ago I subscribed to "Shout" the newspaper. Funny the news was a week old when I got it but back then it felt fresh. Its just fun listening to the different opinions. For me the Caller I like is Judy in Buffalo. Bills win the Super Bowl "Hello, we've got Judy in Buffalo." "One thing. Next year. The defense. We intercepted 4 passes. But none of them. Knew to run after they caught it." Judy is my favorite. Never heard someone sound so disgusted and huffy about everything. Quote

I don't know I have heard Joe say things like spending resources on defenses is dumb, they should all be spent on offense. He has sad "defense shemefense" and other things like "I don't need them to run the ball, you gain more yards per pass than yards per run so you should almost always pass". They reference EPA and efficiency stats but cannot provide good context, they use them like its gospel. Anyone using the phrases "complementary football" and "balance" on offense means they are dumb and the football world passed them by. This year has been better but Joe in particular does not seem knowledgeable to me. The guys on the extra point show M-T are a complete joke. Quote

Yes, immediately change when she pops on. She’s the only caller that I recognize — and I’ve been listening for years. I just can’t with her. Edited 1 hour ago by mcjeff215 Quote
Nitro Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I moved to Indiana and WGR provides a link to Buffalo sports. There are days where the people on WGR are very annoying. I tune out. The two in the morning are the worst. Having traveled the Midwest and listening to sports radio on my drives, the quality of this format has decreased in the past decade. Must be a generational thing. Kind of like me yelling at them to get off my lawn. Quote
Madbillsfan Posted 58 minutes ago Posted 58 minutes ago Joe got the job and is pulling a Haynesworth now. He doesn't acknowledge or learn anything that happened before he watched sports. Maybe it's because i grew up in an era where NFL yearbook type of programs existed. I turn it off when they get stupid, and i don't mean the segment they run. Their personal lives are more important than their professional lives and that's ok but be professional. The real problem is that as long as they show up and do something, there is no one around to take their jobs. Quote

They can’t really explain anything about football. Second, Twitter is their main source of information. They use charts, graphs and statistics put together by others to illustrate their points. Part of it is Joe DiBiase’s style - everything is a rhetorical question. Jeremy just talks over everyone. But WGR had Jeremy Conn on from Baltimore on Friday and he couldn’t provide any insight into the Ravens other than they have good players. Raiders 920 AM is JT the Brick, it’s not good. Tony Rizzo out of Cleveland has a good morning show that is fun. Lions 97.1 is pretty good - they bring in a bunch of people. Cincinnati only has the afternoon show with Mo Eger - but college is such a bigger part of the Cincinnati scene. Steven from Florida Larry from South Florida Geena from Delaware Rob in Connecticut All callers who hog air time with non sense. When it comes to the Bills, I only want to hear from the Cover 1 crew, Joe Marino, and One Bills live. Edited 46 minutes ago by BillMafia716ix Quote

Moved away in my 20’s for work, and thanks to the internet, I can listen to WGR for sports talk about my favorite teams. However; This morning show is awful and the callers are even worse. Maybe everyone is sobering up, or maybe they’re still drinking. But Jeremy and Joe are hard to listen to. Maybe it’s the podcast era, but these guys just aren’t leading the conversation. It’s as if they’re having their own sports talk, and the rest of us are just listening live. At least they’re talking sports. WFAN in NYC is talking about who takes ED meds and gambling and the Inauguration. I don’t know why Im posting this. Maybe someone here can explain it to me. You aren’t kidding. I can’t listen to Jeremy and Joe. I think Jeremy was fine as Howard Simon’s co-host but I don’t like the current show. I think callers are a big problem. I’m not sure if they can’t get people to call in or whether they just aren’t able to find someone that makes a good point. This morning with Sal, he took a call from someone who said it was rare that the Bills won despite the yardage discrepancy (it happened in the 3 other divisional games), some older guy called in and said “Bills need to be better in the red zone” (they were 3/4 yesterday). Then a caller said he was traveling to Hong Kong for Lunar New Year and would be watching the game at 7 :00 AM. Sal probably would have been better off not taking calls - I just wonder if Jeremy & Joe did the same thing. Quote
