I was born and raised in Buffalo. Moved away in my 20’s for work, and thanks to the internet, I can listen to WGR for sports talk about my favorite teams.

However;

This morning show is awful and the callers are even worse. Maybe everyone is sobering up, or maybe they’re still drinking. But Jeremy and Joe are hard to listen to. Maybe it’s the podcast era, but these guys just aren’t leading the conversation. It’s as if they’re having their own sports talk, and the rest of us are just listening live. At least they’re talking sports. WFAN in NYC is talking about who takes ED meds and gambling and the Inauguration.

I don’t know why Im posting this. Maybe someone here can explain it to me.

Should we try to explain why callers are miserable fans or why you are posting this? 😁

It's probably because every one thought the Bills would fold like a card table in this game & no one ever gives the Bills the respect they deserve so they don''t want to admit the Bills had a plan and executed it and won so they talk about other things because no one likes admitting that they were wrong .

Well first off - they’re fans with microphones.

They can’t really explain anything about football.

Second, Twitter is their main source of information. They use charts, graphs and statistics put together by others to illustrate their points.

Part of it is Joe DiBiase’s style - everything is a rhetorical question.

Jeremy just talks over everyone.

But WGR had Jeremy Conn on from Baltimore on Friday and he couldn’t provide any insight into the Ravens other than they have good players.

Raiders 920 AM is JT the Brick, it’s not good.

Tony Rizzo out of Cleveland has a good morning show that is fun.

Lions 97.1 is pretty good - they bring in a bunch of people.

Cincinnati only has the afternoon show with Mo Eger - but college is such a bigger part of the Cincinnati scene.

It doesn't help when the callers all seem to put on their homemade tinfoil hats before they pick up the phone

All callers who hog air time with non sense.

The announcers on WGR never made such statements. They expressed the same concerns we all had, but still believed the Bills could win. I don’t get why anyone would have issues with this morning’s show. 🤨

The callers are a self-selecting group. Think about the average Bills fan. Now, think about the type of Bills fan who wakes up in the morning and thinks "I'll call into WGR and complain about a Bills playoff win not being good enough."

I get being out of town and looking for some news or insight to get the feeling of what it's like on the ground... Wgr is the natural easy go to but typically a mess so listen at your own risk lol

You know I thought it was just for the Sabres talk that it was all the graphs and advanced analytics. But it’s the football too. It’s awful. I just turned it off because I can’t listen another minute.

Thanks for the support. I knew I came to the right place.

I enjoyed Howard and Jeremy alot. Jeremy and Joe is Meh. I still listen, but local talk radio has declined quite a bit, and that's everywhere, not just locally (I'm in Rochester). Ps, I'm not a huge hockey fan to begin with, but when they have Paul Hamilton on, I immediately change it, I just cannot listen to him for whatever reason

Not passing judgement but the people who call into the station sound like mental patients who got a hold of a phone and immediately called in.

i get the station is about fan involvement but the callers are so bad.

the shows are fine I guess.  I enjoy Sal and one bills live.

but damn the callers, the only thing worse than their sports opinions is their insistence on telling everyone about their feelings on todays other events.  As if anyone listening didn’t know that they are.

I don’t understand why the morning show does not have big guests on.  Morning shows around the country get the best guests, sports or non sports related.  WGR does not.

I rarely listen to J/J. I’m usually already at work by the time they start the show so today was a rare “treat”.

I remember when Schoppe was new to the radio, and loved his snarky comments and the idea of “Sports talk for Smart people”. I even had a “caller of the day” during the Flutie/Johnson debate. But now? Holy smokes are they unlistenable. If I’m in bad traffic I’ll put it on as a way to atone for my past sins, but when I’m not riddled with guilt, I listen to anything else.

Yeah it’s fine.

I listen to a lot of WGR.

Joe and Jeremy - the main point is they want wide-open offense. They want the Daboll 4 and 5 wide.

So naturally you get the progressive distillation of football from them:

- Never punt

- Running game is not that important

- WR Train

- Going for it on 4th down

- Allen running is cheat code

I think it’s okay to analyze the game. I was there. It certainly felt like a game where the Bills held on.

This!!! The callers are brutal. It does us no service as a fan base, when these are vocal ones among us. The takes are brutal. Some guy just called up to talk about his German exchange student? What? Who cares that next week you’re going to be in Costa Rica and to watch the game in Spanish?

Haha….next thing you know listening to SBD are gonna be penance for confession!  “You are forgiven…now go listen to Schopp for an entire show….”

I listen every day and I’m way out of town, downstate. I gotta go out of my way to listen to it and the station is horrendous. It’s part of my bills season routine so I’ll keep doing it but these kids are terrible. Some of the least knowledgeable humans on earth when it comes to sports. Not even out of just sports radio guys….out of just people in general. Jeremy has always been terrible. I can’t remember the last time he made a point that I agreed with. The station is so unprofessional it’s inexcusable. I live an hour from NYC. This garbage would not fly down here. These people know absolutely nothing
