Looks like that hasn't changed. As for Cooper not gaining separation what good is he if he can't separate. Isn't that part of a #1's job description. Seemed to separate just fine in Cleveland. MVS got separation in NO. What’s going on here that we have do much trouble with that? Quote
NoName Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago (edited) This is a quote from Joe Brad after the Ravens game on yon Cooper not being targeted... “I think Amari's doing a great job at being in the room and embodying that selfless mindset,” offensive coordinator Joe Brady said. “I say it every time, just watch out on the field where the [defensive backs] are when Amari is in the game. We didn't pass the ball a lot [vs. Ravens] and I think sometimes that's a product of it. Coop's doing a great job for us, he doesn't care about the stats right now. He knows that him being on the field helps our offense. I'd love to be able to get more opportunities just all the guys and be able to get us going and just hasn't been how the game's kind of played out the last two weeks.” Edited 9 hours ago by NoName 1 Quote
Charles Romes Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago If not for Cooper the game plan against the Bills every week would be to crowd the middle of the field and force someone to beat you on the boundaries. Just like the ravens and Texans game plan weeks 4 and 5. Cooper has destroyed this game plan by being on the roster and by showing significant success in the limited times he’s been targeted downfield since the acquisition. 1 Quote
skibum Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) The Bills offense has become very conservative, no doubt. It seems to me like they have had a big epiphany about what it takes to actually WIN the games, and more often than not, that does not involve throwing the deep ball. It's more about eating clock and moving the chains. Throwing to a wideout is pretty far down the list of priorities when you have excellent run blocking, Josh Allen's legs, a stacked RB room, a clutch slot receiver, and two very good receiving TEs. Why risk throwing deep when you have so many reliable pathways to gaining 5-10 yards? Edited 12 hours ago by skibum 1 Quote
Beck Water Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Sal Maiorana wants to know too. He's about to start a food drive for Cooper and Coleman: https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/football/nfl/bills/2025/01/22/buffalo-bills-wide-reciever-vs-chiefs-amari-cooper-keon-coleman-khalil-shakir/77853841007/ Quote 'Everyone eats' is Bills mantra on offense but key wide receivers seem to be starving Quote As for Amari Cooper and Keon Coleman, completely invisible. They have combined four catches for 18 yards, and Cooper in particular has really been a letdown. In the last five games he has played, the trade deadline acquisition has been involved in just 74 pass play snaps and targeted a mere nine times with six catches for 74 yards. “I think Amari’s doing a great job at being in the room and embodying that selfless mindset,” Brady said. “He’s part of our group that makes our group kind of who they are, and he’s leading it, and he doesn’t care about the stats right now, and he knows that him being on the field helps our offense.” Does it, though? Who besides Shakir is benefiting? And really, Shakir does what he does whether Cooper’s on the field or not because he plays many more snaps. I think Maiorana is ignoring the point @Charles Romes makes up thread that if it weren't for Cooper providing a legit outside threat, the game plan would be to crowd the middle to stifle the run and the short/intermediate passing game, and dare Allen to try to throw outside - Ravens and Houston games. And if Shakir were injured, Forgetaboutit. But I would still like to see the Bills put up more of a legit outside threat Edited 6 hours ago by Beck Water Quote
