I hear you- But Lamar was also insane against the blitz before the Bills game.

His stats when the Bills blitzed him according to Joe marino? 6 for 12 for 99 yards with an INT

His stats when he wasn't blitzed? Something like 12 for 13 for around 150 yards and 2 TDs.

Moral of my point is- The front 4 isn't good enough to get consistent pressure, and I think they will have to lean into sending 5 guys a fair amount of the time

If Buffalo can’t get pressure with the front 4, they will lose.

We will see. Bills blitzed/spyed Mahomes and played way more man against them in the previous match up, and it worked good for the most part.

In an ideal world, you get pressure with 4 of course.

I just don't think Bills can just sit back and rush 4 though- As Mahomes will have all day and will pick them apart

So if a team can’t get pressure with 4 D lineman vs 5 oline …they lose?

Thanks.  I was referring to when Bills/Chiefs played earlier. Against the Texans Kelce had a big day cause Al Shaair could/would not stay with him.  Conversely when we played KC, TB was leaving his coverage responsibilities at times to guard Kelce.  TB's focus on Kelce is why Gray had a fair bit of impact (2 first down catches, 2 TDs on 5 targets).  Will be interesting to see what happens this coming week.

My mistake, that would make sense then. Yeah I really hope we can slay this dragon!

Against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead in the AFC Championship game?  Yes.

Agree, front 4 needs to play their A-game.

Simulated pressures, to help get some of our guys into 1-1s, or mixing in some zone blitzes/forcing Mahomes a direction in pocket with a spy, is what I expect.

McD has seemed to of found something with our 3-2-6 looks on 3rd down and obvious pass.

I thought he was out of position frequently which put him in bad situations he couldn't recover from.

I thought he was indecisive at times and it caused him to be reactive instead of proactive and resulted in blockers getting on top of him so that he couldn't disengage.

I thought he made some poor decisions in zone coverage that took himself out of the areas of the field the Ravens wanted to attack.

From my couch, he was the third best LB on the field that night and was clearly outplayed by Dorian Williams, imo. And that is coming from a guy who is not a huge fan of Williams.

Full disclosure: I had a house full of Raven-hating Steelers fans here and was inhaling beers for the first time since Christmas Eve so feel free to take this with a grain of salt (and a lime wedge).

About 45 seconds before the forced fumble, I texted a high school friend group (all knowledgeable bills fans) and said, “terrell bernard is having a pretty bad game.” One minute later i wrote, “i take that back!” Agree with what you say above.

It’s the same going the other way. And Bills O-Line is better than KC’s.

To answer your question, Cooper cannot beat Jalen Watson or Mcduffie. Most of your passing success will come from TE and running back. The biggest concern I would have as a Bills fan would be safety. Hamlin is a nice story and has certainly made some good plays, but I look for Reid to put both in conflict situations with Worthy and Brown. The question is whether or not the line can hold up to make this happen. A big concern is Pacheco and his ankle. He has not had the burst since coming back. I think this game will be close as both teams have their flaws. If you guys do end up moving on you can’t let the Eagles win.

We know prior to Bills getting Cooper, the issue is against man coverage. McDuffie is likely on Shakir. And Jalen Watson will probably on Cooper. I'd hope Cooper can be 50-50, though recent weeks perfformance is not enouraging. I remember the Nov 17 game he had 2 down field catches against man coverage - Watson is still on IR then. Is Watson all the way back?

This game we have Coleman and Kincaid. I can see some jump balls to Coleman, but Coleman needs to be coached to read Spagnuolo's def4ense to adjust routes accordingly. Not sure Josh trusts him 100% in those situations. Kincaid maybe a key factor. He has the ability to open quickly but timing wise is not really there - I mean getting open at the right time depending on if he's 1st or 2nd or 3rd options etc.

The O-line is our strongest unit (RB's are close).  I feel like I have to go back to the '90s for a line that was at their level.

They need to have a great game, but I have a lot of faith that they will.

The best approach remains to find ways to run/pass involving Cook, Davis, Johnson, using the steady strength of our O-line. I mentioned the trio combined for 50 yard rushing on Nov 17. And Cook had 5 receptions for a total of 7 yards. There seems to have a lot of room to improve there.

Would you all feel more comfortable if this game was in Orchard Park?  or do you believe this is how it’s meant to be. If we’re going to get to the big game, it has to be through Mahomes and Reid at Arrowhead?

Ive always felt this version of KC is an excellent road team.  Maybe even better on the road than home.  I’m ok playing them there.  I think our guys will relish it.

I remember their players smiling and waving goodbye to Bills fans after the Bass miss last year.   Can't say that I blame them - I'm sure they heard it from the fans in the front rows all game.

But man, do I want to see the reverse of that in KC this year.  We're overdue for a road playoff win.

It’s not the same going the other way, though.  The Chiefs live and die with the blitz.  Spagnuolo is the GOAT at designing exotic blitzes from any position on the field.  Kansas City can and will blitz early and often.  If he can help it, McDermott won’t blitz at all because Mahomes thrives against them.

The way to slow Mahomes is to drop as many defenders into coverage as possible while still getting some pressure on him.  When he’s struggled, it’s almost always been when teams dropped 8 and his receivers still couldn’t get open.

Would feel much better if it was in orchard park- As the chiefs are extremely tough to beat in arrowhead, and the bills  don't have a road playoff win in the McDermott era.

But it's still a winnable game. And if the bills play their A game, they are heading to New Orleans

if you are the chiefs D, I am not sure what they will be preparing for. That ravens game showed them almost nothing. We could really surprise them on offense.

Which is the beauty and complexity of this offense.

I still don't know exactly what game or set of games a team can focus on to say "This is what you key in on to stop the Bills"

Literally any player on offense could be the most productive week to week.

Hell Gilliam might mess around and have 4rec and a TD and I wouldn't be shocked at all.
