Lopsided Ravens - Bills Box scores

If you just look at that, you would say the Ravens win handlily

 

Then you see the turnover below:

 

Turnover is critical between quality teams in the playoffs. We saw last night in Detroit as well. 

 

I am also very encouraged by the Bills rushing yards, out-pacing the passing yards. Remember Ravens has the #1 run defense. In January football, you need to be able to run the ball and we do have it now. Now they do need to pick up the passing game some heading into KC.

Turnovers were the difference.

Objectively the ravens controlled the game for the most part.

But... The nfl is a matchup league and I don't think the bills match up well against Baltimore- So massive to get those key plays on defence.

The Bills coaching staff became way too conservative on both sides of the ball in the second half. I was very surprised by that. I hope they learned their lesson because the Bills should have won this game by at least 2 scores.

It was largely same old, same old on defense. First half game plan was excellent, but we offered no resistance in the 2nd half. It is what it is at this point. This team really protects the ball and McD's defenses have always been + at turnovers. I don't think the turnover thing is random for us. Lord help us if it ever goes against us, but I think we will be + more often than not in that area.

I was surprised too. Offense was weird to watch.

Felt like we played conservatively on offense. Had we pushed the ball down field more we would have most likely had more yards but maybe one or two more turnovers.

Was better to play the conservative ball control game this game given we had a a lead for most of the game.

I don't know. The Ravens adjusted. I had to believe Harbaugh challenged his D line to man up and they did. 1st down play coming out the half time was terrible for the Bills.

Josh Allen threw for 127 yards. Let that sink in.

 

The first half the Bills were bringing heat on Jackson and he looked uncomfortable. In the second half they laid back.

It’s easy to forget that winning is really important.  We get so caught up in stats and analysis that it’s easy to discount being able to win as a skill.  Baltimore lost 6 games this year.  There’s a reason for that even if it seemed like they should have won most of them.  Somehow, close losses seem to have been given more credit than ugly wins. Baltimore is incredibly good at losing games while making everyone watching feel like the better team lost.

 

Teams that are consistently unlucky are actually just not that good.  Conversely, teams that always seem to pull off lucky wins in rock fights are much better than they’re given credit for.

It’s a credit to the Bills.  Literally every playoff game this weekend came down to the losing team gagging.  Allen and McDermott have figured out how to win by letting the other team hang themselves.  That’s incredibly important in the postseason.

The last drive prevents are killer. They gave up huge chunk plays, if you're gonna give huge chunk plays then let them get it by blitzing and not giving Lamar all day to throw.

The running and being conservative is obviously intentional.  They ran 44 times vs Denver and 35 times tonight.  They weren’t really looking to push the ball way downfield much in either game.  Run the ball, get takeaways,  No giveaways, Move the chains, Score a few TDs, Make your FGs. Dont be risky with the football and throw it recklessly o

The Ravens led for under 6 minutes in the first quarter and then never led again. You can't control the game when you are behind for 90% of it.

Some of you need to quit complaining and be happy Buffalo won. I’m sure some of  you will complain after the Super Bowl if Buffalo happens to win. 
You will be mad the Bills didn’t get 500 yards of offense and score 50 points even if they win the whole thing.
