They are not brain dead they just have an agenda and make everything fit it. Defense blows? McDermott's fault. Offense struggles? McDermott's fault. Other team makes a great play? McDermott's fault.

I thought he and Babich coached a good game today. Brady didn't have his best day but even there... he is hamstrung by what he has at wide receiver to an extent. I just worry a tad that Baltimore just gave Spags the blueprint.

Does KC have a comparable DL?

He doesn't call the offense.  Are you fire McDermott people brain dead?

Yeah, I'm sure it's just a coincidence that every single coordinator he has shares his philosophy of playing not to lose in huge games and praying for the other team to screw up enough times to avoid losing.

Was the best and most important call of his career.

Everybody loves this unrelenting aggression on 4th down and McD shows a ton of it, arguably the second most after Dan Campbell. There’s also the common sense inclination that you let your best player win the game.

But the strategy of this game comes down to probability even when it’s boring.  Make your opponent be perfect.  You go up by 8 points, make them score the TD AND the 2 point conversion AND stop your final drive afterward.  Worst case scenario you take it to OT and accept your 50/50 odds there.

It’s like making a big fold at a poker tournament with your two pair on a board with straights and flushes possible.  Not fun, but right.

He made that decision with an entire city, many of whom hate him, watching over his shoulder.  Well done, coach.

The fourth down decision was correct.  The third down call was deplorable.  Two QB sneaks in a row were guaranteed to result in a TD

I am not sure the third down offensive playcall was.

Yeah, that 3rd down shotgun run play reminded me of Dorsey. Sometimes you can't get too cute. 2 tush pushes and it's pretty much over.

Yiou're giving him credit for this? No coach in the sport should have gone for that

I mean in the moment it was like this sucks they did not score but was anyone arguing to go there?  Given you kick the FG and you force the opponent to score a TD and convert a 2 points vs you dont get in, they score you lose.  You had to kick....

The point with the 4th down aggression is that in many situations it is better to go for it than kick but there was/is this traditional view that "you take the points", the data says otherwise much of the time.  I will be curious what the win% is for that decision.

It was the most importantly call of this game. Of his entire career? Prisoner of the moment analysis. He made the right call at the right time. Good job by the entire team today.

I'm not worried about the KC defense having a blueprint tbh. I do need them to get Cooper involved more.

Putting a guy in shotgun so he has to run 5 yards just to get back to the line of scrimmage was definitely not the correct call. Especially when they have a play that has proven unstoppable all season, even when the defense knows exactly what the play is.
