I think Jackson needs to realize he doesn't need to be Superman on every play. Something Josh has figured out which has resulted in eliminating disastrous plays.

 

The Ravens have a better roster and more talent than the Bills. But the Bills have a better team.

What?  Jackson did not outplay Allen in any way.  Those two TO's were huge and contributed more to the loss then any other plays including the Edwards fumble & drop.

 

Would you and others be saying the same thing had Allen & Jackson switched places?  I don't think so.

IMHO - he’s deserving of elite status.  Yes he had a bad interception and lost a fumble, but otherwise he played well enough to win.  he plays an honest game.  If we did not already have Josh, I’d want Lamar as my QB.

We just beat Lamar and King Henry and all those all-pros, and that defensive line.  Just let that sink in.  So thankful!

Ironically, a lot of us are frustrated today because Josh wasn't really allowed to be Superman yesterday - whether that was McDermott's choice, Brady or his own. But, actually, isn't that a good thing? Just one turnover from the Bills and we'd be looking at the post season right now.

I would say that Henry and the other RB gashing the Bills in the 3rd quarter threw the Bills D and coaches into a panic which Jackson then exploited.  In fact looking at the Ravens season this is exactly how they won/lost games.  In the 1st half the Bills largely shut down Henry and the result was Jackson having 2 TO's and the Ravens trailing 21 - 10. 

 

If the Ravens didn't have the beast of a RB like Henry last nights game probably ends up being a 3 score Bills blowout as Jackson would have had 1 or 2 more TO's as he tried to get his team back in the game.

Jackson absolutely did not outplay Allen. ANd as Romo alluded to multiple times last night, Josh can put on the cape whenever needed. He didn't need to.

In a way this was an all in year for them.  It's hard to believe that Henry has any more 2000 yard seasons in him.  If I was a Ravens fan I would be thinking that we really blew it this year.  First, they lost 5 games which lands them as the 3rd seed. Second, they lose in the divisional round of the playoffs. The Ravens under performed in spite of at times over the season looking like the best team in football.

I think we're witnessing a fundamental change in how the Bills use Allen and his amazing skill set. It is designed to win championships and keep Allen in his prime for the next decade.

 

First, they have decided, correctly IMO, that you can not depend on Allen being Superman in every game.  It is not sustainable and as Greg Cosell, who is a very smart QB analyst, has been warning us you won't win championships with this mindset.

 

Second, they have worked hard to build a good running game and O line to take the pressure off Allen. 

 

Third they did put the ball in Allen's hand in the first half and the Bills responded by scoring 3 TD's and were robbed from scoring more by a horrible holding call on the one possession they punted. At half they had a commanding 21 - 10 lead.

 

And finally, the problem IMO is that McD still has to high of an opinion of his D.  He was playing the odds and gambling that being conservative on offense and not making any TO's would be enough to win.  And he was right though it was close.  The fact was that the Bills held a 27 - 19 lead with three and a half minutes left in the game and the Ravens at their own 11 yard line.

Exactly.....the Lamar Jackson apologist media machine is in full effect today. They will twist themselves in knots to not criticize him, but if you switched the two QB performances, they would have no problem crapping all over Josh Allen for the same result.

I went to Baltimore two years ago in full Bills regalia along with 5,000 other fans. Their fans were very friendly.

Just a bit..Bills took advantage of the foolish turnovers the mvp gave us. Bills had 1:33 and 2 TO’s to go get 40 yards if it was tied. But we did turn way too conservative on O and didn’t put them away.
They were the favorite and made the mistakes. I don’t expect KC to go the same. We will have to beat them by 10 or more.. we know how it will go if it’s close.

I like Lamar and respect his game. He’s ultra talented and is a true game changer. They’ve surrounded him with talent on both sides of the ball and have an outstanding FG kicker. 
 

With all that said, he has an abysmal record in the playoffs. Flip the script, if Josh had similar results he’d be crucified by the media.

Oh, I've always liked him. What makes him a bit polarizing has nothing to do with him, his play, or his attitude. He seems to be a great guy. He is a great QB. He is an athletic freak.

 

The issue has always been him being propped up by the media and others, making him something that he is not, including ignoring or even being untruthful about his limitations. And it is the media who propped him up last year and forced him down our throats as the league MVP. And yet, these same media people are hyper critical of Josh Allen and spin all kinds of garbage narratives to tear him down and prop up the guys that they like.

 

Lamar Jackson is a great QB. He is a tier below Mahomes and Allen, and probably Burrow as well. He is not the best player in the league. He is not without weaknesses. He is not even a QB who can consistently put his team on his back and will them to victory. But he is still great.

Overall, he had a bad game because of the turnovers.

 

But that last drive was clutch.  88 yards I think - and just great throws the whole drive.  The narrative would be wildly different today for both he & Allen if they converted that 2 pointer & then got it to OT, and won.

Great player and I learned last night a class act too. Compare his smile/embrace to how Mahomes interacted with Josh after we beat the Chiefs in the regular season last year.

I think if the roles were reversed we'd have legions of fans in here swearing on their first born's life that Josh outplayed Lamar and was just unlucky with all the drops and a fluky bad snap fumble. Go back and read post after post during the 2023 season.
