Um … KC did nearly the EXACT SAME THING to the Bills six games later vs the Bills (in the next season). 2 plays for 28 yards and a 62 yard fg before the half in 12 seconds. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/202210160kan.htm

Yes, you’re starting to get it. The Chiefs did to the Bills TWICE, what had only happened a handful or so times in 30,000+ NFL drives.

Think about that.

The kick was not the issue, at all......

Hope that helps

It was part of the problem. That said I'm more upset how we put up no fight in OT on defense.

Think about that.

It’s because Josh Allen is so good, Mahomes rises to the occasion.

some folks actually believe this.

Squib or kick deep made little difference.

I would have squib kicked it.

It was playing 10 yards off the receivers when all they needed was a FG with two TOs that was criminal.  McD was afraid to give up a TD when giving up a FG was probably a loss as well.  One defensive play is all he needed. Instead he let them get easy yards.

He's a fraud.

Allen carries this team and always has.

This board continues to beat the crap out of McD re:  13 seconds game.

Correct me if someone has the definitive word on this, but my understanding is that McD told Heath Farwell to have Bass squib kick with 13 seconds left (which would have forced the returner to pick up the ball and return it, running the clock down well below 13 sec and ending the game) but Farwell failed to get the call in to Bass.   Taiwan Jones said later he "could not believe" Bass was kicking it through the end zone.

So if my understanding is correct, McD made the right call and Farwell screwed it up.   McD courageously took the heat  (called it a "learning experience for all ")and refused to throw Farwell under the bus (although he fired him "Leslie Frazier style" quietly later).  Bass has never been pushed to talk as far as I know.

So instead of continuing to rip McD for 13 seconds, he should be commended for not shunting the blame on his ST coach Farwell, who (my understanding is) totally pooped the bed.   McD manned up and took the blame even though Farwell did the deed.   That's the guy I want at the top of my organization.

If someone has the actually documented facts on this, chime in, but the whole 13 seconds thing has been misrepresented for 3 years IMO.

I would prefer a coach who doesn’t completely ***** up an easy end of game situation over one who does and has to take the blame. Personally.

we have a guy in this thread who’s literally arguing that’s something that’s only happened a handful or so times in 30,000 NFL drives is common and should be expected.

I'm not blaming the kicker.

I don't care if the GSOT Rams or 07 Patriots are out there. As a defensive HC, you can't allow that to happen with 13 seconds left.

After that, I never quite trusted him as much. I'm over it. But it will be a part of his legacy if we don't win a SB.

Yeah, the squib kick was the starting point but they got absolutely shredded by scheme on 2 plays. That’s where people’s problem is more than the squib imo.

Both are crucial errors by coaching staff period, whether solely Farwell/Smiley or Frazier/Daboll.

Agree. Squib the kick and maybe we wouldn't have to watch McDs defense give huge cushions to KC. KC knew what would be called and exposed it both times.

The bottom line is nobody knows what the truth is. And 100 years from now that will remain.  One thing I will say is Sean hired Heath. Sean hired Leslie.  Sean hired Ken. There comes a time when the boss has to take some responsibility.

To this day, the only person who has taken any accountability for :13 seconds is Levi Wallace.  No one else in the Bills organization has had the balls to come clean.  We'll never know what really happened because this whole debacle has been covered up from the time it happened.

I just wish it was called "10 seconds," because that's all the time it took for the Chiefs to march down the field & setup for a FG.

They still had 3 seconds left when calling timeout before the kick. Those last 3 seconds were just a bonus. That's why I get so mad thinking about that game.

That’s a great point and to be fair whilst I commend him for what he said back then I wonder if it was just him taking one for the team. He did make an error but the same error on consecutive plays after timeouts?

Absolutey will never know the entire truth.

Then who cares about 13 whatever

Oh, about 20-25 crusaders on this board who will NEVER give it up.

Sorry - did I say the quiet part out loud?

To be fair (and I'm not saying your wrong) I think we all care about it. We can't do anything about it though.
if you bring it up then your a crusader but if you defend McD then your an apologist. It's hard to ever have an opinion on some things because you're wrong no matter what you say. Just win and it won't matter anymore. Go bills.
