Well, those are the rules. All teams have to live with them, not just the Bills. The previous rules were very restrictive and limiting for coaches looking to advance their careers. At least these interviews are now of the zoom variety.

The bills game plan offensively was already done earlier in the week. It's not a big deal. Besides I don't think he's getting hired for a couple more yrs. He's not ready yet imo. He's still extremely young and learning the nuances of leadership and corporate bureaucracy/ formalities. There is a lot that goes into being a HC besides x's and o's obviously. It what makes McDermott a good coach. His meticulous organizational skills are elite. His leadership is elite

Teams make desperate hires all the time, though.

I don’t have an issue with coaches looking at new opportunities but here we are in the middle of preparing for perhaps the biggest playoff game/showdown in years and Brady is taking time off to interview for a job. What kind of a message does that send to the team and the fans?

What’s more important your allegiance to your current team or your future career?

These interviews are a distraction from the job at hand and if Joe simply stayed focused on his current job, the future will take care of itself.

I wish him all the best and hope we can retain him but I would like to see him shelve his future plans for a while so he can focus on the present.

He’s got a hell of a lot of nerve planning for his future and exploring potential promotion opportunities.

What a selfish jerk.

I do.

It not only takes the time for the interview itself (zoom or otherwise), but it also takes the mental energy of preparing for that call. Anyone who has ever had an interview in their life (and was prepared for it) can attest to the mental prepwork that occurs for many hours prior.

Monken, the Ravens OC, criticized that facet of the process this week in press conferences. And that is coming from someone who is actively interviewing. He understands the time commitment it takes away from his current team. He doesnt like it.

All the players and coaches are temps in the NFL.  No player or coach expects any other player or coach to deprioritize their careers for the greater good.   There is no message sent or received by this activity.

Depending on what faction you listen to, the interview was:

"Why did you send us that stiff?!"

or

"We appreciate Edmunds' efforts.  We think you would be a fine addition to the Bears as head coach!"

If you have a problem with it, it is the NFL you have a beef with. Not Brady. I think teams should be forced to wait until the end of the season to start their hiring processes, but that's not the rule right now.

Agreed. No one should be upset with Brady. This is an NFL issue that should be fixed. Teams shouldnt be allowed to interview until the day after the Super Bowl.

game prep is done by Friday for a Sunday game.

First round of interviews srr done by zoom and I think no more than an hour.

after the division round us when formal interviews can be done

So you didn't see Brady address this earlier this week? He said the only thing it's going to take away from is time with his wife and kid, bc he's only doing these Zoom meetings at home after he's done at work for the day.

“If I'm being completely honest, I don't spend any time thinking about the interviews, and when I go in the interviews, I'm literally just myself,” Brady said. “There's no getting ready or preparing, it's not fair to all my guys if I'm spending time in this organization, in the city, if I'm spending time taken away from game planning.

"So if I'm doing an interview, it's the same time I would normally be home eating dinner with my wife or spending time with my son and so they're the ones that would the schedule would change. But there's no preparation for it, I'm just out there answering questions and just being me and going from there.”

First world problems. Still alive in the playoffs, top 4 team in the conference at worst and have an offense so good the OC is getting multiple HC interviews.

let’s look back at our worries and complaints pre-2017. What a time

Still has great potential. His length is elite....

And he’s only 14 years old, so much time to develop.

It’s friggin Saturday for crissakes. Every aspect of game planning on both sides of the ball have been installed and practiced already. Brady can certainly spare a half hour on a day with not much to do.

The Bills attract talent because they have a reputation as being a place to build your career.

Letting people build their career includes letting them interview for career advancing jobs.

I agree.  No sarcasm, but if bad teams think it is unfair to wait until after the superbowl I have no sympathy.
