Brady just interviewed with the Bears

I don’t have an issue with coaches looking at new opportunities but here we are in the middle of preparing for perhaps the biggest playoff game/showdown in years and Brady is taking time off to interview for a job. What kind of a message does that send to the team and the fans?

 

What’s more important your allegiance to your current team or your future career?
 

These interviews are a distraction from the job at hand and if Joe simply stayed focused on his current job, the future will take care of itself. 
 

I wish him all the best and hope we can retain him but I would like to see him shelve his future plans for a while so he can focus on the present.

Heard there was a window of time in which assistants could interview for a job and I thought that was last week. I would agree, preparing yourself for a HC interview does seem to take away from game preparation, there’s only so many hours in the day.

All the assistants are doing it, and have done this for years.  If the Bills were 5-12 and searching for a head coach we’d be thrilled they were interviewing the hot guys this week.

If you have a problem with it, it is the NFL you have a beef with. Not Brady. I think teams should be forced to wait until the end of the season to start their hiring processes, but that's not the rule right now.

The bills game plan offensively was already done earlier in the week. It's not a big deal. Besides I don't think he's getting hired for a couple more yrs. He's not ready yet imo. He's still extremely young and learning the nuances of leadership and corporate bureaucracy/ formalities. There is a lot that goes into being a HC besides x's and o's obviously. It what makes McDermott a good coach. His meticulous organizational skills are elite. His leadership is elite

I wouldn't worry about it.   I'd anticipate that most of the hay for potential Ravens and Chiefs matchups was likely already in the barn before the playoffs started.    It was pretty clear that Brady had put that Detroit gameplan together WAY in advance.   These games are his real interviews.

agree, but I would not hate the player; would hate the game.  The NFL needs to change the rules on this, and have a period after the season for interviews to happen.
 

You would think it would be mutually beneficial for really all the teams in the league. Even the bad teams who want to get a jump on a new coach— those teams will probably end up being good at some point too, and will want the same system.

How dare this guy think about his own personal future, go for something that had been a goal and dream of his for probably forever, this dude is so selfish! I don’t even want him coaching tomorrow, he should be fired immediately! Who cares that he knows how to budget his own time, has a much better grasp of what’s going on than any of us, has already put in the work for the game this week, he’s out of control and needs to learn there are consequences for his behavior! I hate this guy and he’s the new Edmunds/Diggs! ANGER I SAY, ANGER!!!!

Go watch his response when they asked him about it Monday. Said does not prepare for these interviews, he simply answers questions and is not doing them while he would be preparing for opponents or at work, does them when he would be at home with his wife or son, so they would be the one having his time cut short not the team or players. Said it would not be fair in anyway to the team or players if he took time or put energy into preparing for an interview and that his focus is on winning this Sunday.

 

This is a NON-ISSUE you are attempting to make an issue because you didn't even bother taking time to go listen to what he said when asked about it earlier this week.

I'd be more concerned with these interviews if they had to fly to other teams facilities during a practice week. Doing these interviews over zoom or whatever, is probably the least intrusive way you could do them.
