Lengthy but fantastic compilation. Especially for those who followed the team way back then. Enjoy!

Thats really cool thanks for sharing. Good memories, my favorite part is when they show the folks cheering at the Locker Room. (RIP).

also - look at that field! classic football! These days they'd move or cancel the game with a muddy field like that, total wimps

This is awesome I totally remember this! Chuck Knox, Villipiano, McCutcheon, Dobler, the Bermuda Triangle... I think they even brought in Ron Jesse...

I still say, that if that team had home field advantage, they would have went to the Super Bowl.  Recall, there were five teams at 11-5 in the AFC and through some wacky tiebreaker scenario, we had to play AT San Diego, even though Bills beat them earlier in the season.  We know what happened there.

The music score leaves much to be desired, but the intent is there.🤷‍♂️

Chandman, I thought you were singing this song…

The youngins wouldn’t know this song, but it was the thing before the beloved shout song (thank god for the shout song as this was so 1980).

I know I often say it, but thanks for reminding us of the memories Chand.

I love that about you mature men (I didn’t want to say old timers).

That field was a mess! Old time football. Loved seeing that.

Also nice to see the crowd at The Locker Room going nuts. Was supposed to be there with some buddies as well but woke up with a fever and had to pass.

Thanks for posting. This is amazing. Not only the game footage, but the interviews!  And Clip Smith, Brian Blessing, Van Miller…just a great trip down memory lane and I’m only 23 minutes into it. I forgot the airport greetings went back that far!

That was such a great team; I’ll never forget watching that 49er game and you could barely tell what was going on at times, it was raining so hard. The LA Rams game when the Bills came out for an encore…really a magical season.

Seeing that team gives me even greater appreciation for the team we have now. We have had some magical moments this year, and who knows, this could be THE year.  But it does remind me of what a special team we have this season and how fleeting these things are. It has been 44 years since that 1980 team played, and it stands out, even with the 90s Super Bowl teams.

What’s really noticeable is there isn’t a jersey in sight in the stands. NFL didn’t market jerseys, so they weren’t available to the public. If you had one, a player gave it to you!

Another amazing thing happened that season. Oilers & Raiders traded QBs in the offseason, Pastorini to Oakland, the Snake to Houston. When the Raiders played us early and we beat them in the season, we broke Dante’s leg, forcing the Raiders to turn to ‘washed up’ Jim Plunkett. ‘Plunk’ led the Raiders to a Super Bowl victory.

Man I loved Joe Cribbs and Jerry Butler!

And I enjoyed watching Fergy play (he was the QB of my childhood). He was never a top guy, but he was a very good QB---despite a lot of down years for the Bills during his career. He ranks 57th all-time in passing yards and 55th all-time in passing TDs. Funny enough, Josh Allen currently has just 1 passing TD less than Fergy. So, just two more passing TDs for Josh will move him ahead of Fergy in the Bills' record books.

I remember being so upset when Chuck Knox left. But, I guess if he didn't, we might not have had Bill, Marv, Jim and the boys do what they did.

The post-game interview with Reggie McKenzie @ 10:55 in the video is priceless. [Reminiscent of the feelings of the Bills breaking the drought in 2017.]

And we often talk about the players/league being tougher back in the day. Well, apparently the refs were too. Check out the ref @ 43:19 in the video.

It was a very dark period between Chuck Knox and Marv Levy…. But it did lead to the Kelly and Bruce draft picks.

Fun fact: the Buffalonian tradition of greeting our pro football team at the airport goes as far back as December 12, 1948! On that day, thousands had arrived to cheer the Buffalo Bills of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) after they defeated the AAFC’s Baltimore Colts in the first round of the playoffs.

This happened to be the first ever road playoff victory for a Buffalo pro football team (and the city’s first pro football playoff game since 1919). That particular AAFC franchise went defunct a season later, but its noticeably fervent fan support is what later inspired Ralph Wilson to place his new AFL franchise in Buffalo.

LOVE the discussion of that 1980 Bills team, by the way! I wish more people would talk about the Ferguson era Bills. Too many Bills fans, sadly, think the franchise’s history doesn’t begin until Jim Kelly arrived.

Doubt that.  We played against the Colts in a couple feet of snow.

Has a game since then been canceled because of field conditions?

Amazing watching a rookie Joe Montana there. I remember that game well. That Niners team won the SB the next season!

I think that was his second pro season…

yup jerseys being sold to the genral public didn’t really take off until the early 90s right?
