Cowboys Set to Interview Leslie Frazier for HC role

Frazier would be a very stable and credible influence with good football bona fides in a very unstable environment. Not splashy but solid

I think the age isn't so much a factor. Andy Reid is 66. John Harbaugh is 61. Pete Carroll is in his 70s and getting some interest.  Dallas just moved in from McCarthy who is 60 himself as is Todd Bowles, Jim Harbaugh and Sean Payton. Aside from McCarthy and obviously Carroll, every other coach 60 or older got his team to the playoffs this year.  There's something to be said for experience. And relating to players, which according to the Bills that played for him, Frazier seems to still do well.

 

I agree, Frazier can be a steady coach for a team that needs stability. The Raiders for instance would make a bit of sense to me. The Jets would make some sense to me.

Other coaches would be livid if that happens.  Not that The Jones family cares but it really is a slap in the face to the profession that a guy like witten could even get consideration.  Jerry did the same thing with Jason Garrett in 07.  He was upset he let Sean Payton go and was looking for a guy he could say was his payton and it was garrett.  Now he has two guys he is doing it again with, Jason Witten and Kellen Moore.

 

Jerry wanted Witten on McCarthy's staff the first year and McCarthy said no.  Jerry gave him the benefit of the doubt at the time but he won't do that going forward.  Dallas is going to hire someone that Dak wants offensively and someone who will bring witten aboard.  They probably hire Kellen Moore dak's buddy who apparently was so fed up with McCarthy offering his opinions on offense that he couldn't wait to get out.

 

The kicker is Dallas has had a lot of former cowboys and nfl players on recent staffs and none are being considered.  If you are one of those guys you must be shaking your head. 

 

Either way nothing is changing in Dallas anytime soon.

 

They could do worse than Moore. Probably could do better too, but I think he'd be at least a credible hire.

It's different having a 65 year old coach to hiring one.

I don't think he's a good fit in Dallas. But a team that needs a steady handed coach to help set culture like the Jags or Raiders could do worse than a "Bridge HC" like Leslie.

 

I don't know whether or not Frazier is a good fit for Jerrah.  But I'm glad he's getting an interview.

The man has a dream to be an NFL HC again.  If you get an opportunity that's a step towards your dream, do you get tired of it?

Teams could do a lot worse than Frazier as their HC. Hope he gets a chance.

There's no Transfer Portal in the NFL.  Sorry Neon, Coach Prime, whatever you call yourself.  Try not to get rolled by BYU in a bowl game then maybe think about the NFL.

I like Leslie Frazier but this appears to more of a Rooney rule interview.  
 

Jerry Jones is a businessman and he knows he can’t sell hope with Frazier as head coach.   Plus I don’t feel Dallas is a very good situation.  
 

Looking back, it’s a shame Houston hired David Culley over Frazier.  But considering Culley and Lovie Smith were patsies set up to fail, I’m glad he didn’t coach there.

He released a statement publicly statement, making it sound like he wants to at Colorado without using those words.  So my guess is that he’s interested.

 

“I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”
 

According to what I’ve read, he has not interviewed formally but both parties seem to be interested
