Josh made a great quote in the press conference about the whole Allen vs Lamar media debacle. It was along the lines of “I’m not playing Lamar Jackson. I’m going up against the Ravens defense and they’re one of the best.” If there is one pet peeve of mine, it’s the whole QB vs QB thing. The Allen vs Mahomes is the one that gets under my skin the most because the defense/coaching/ST are what lost us the game, but somehow Allen gets the blame despite playing nearly perfect. I feel like people forget it’s a team game and it will always be a team game even more so as of recent where running backs & physical defensive play style are all making a huge comebacks. We nearly had multiple 2000 yard rushers in the NFL along with Buffalo being the first team with both a 30+ passing AND rushing TD season. It’s Harbaugh vs McDermott, Bernard & Milano vs Henry, Bates vs Rasul, Van Noy vs Dion Dawkins, etc. My point is there are crucial matchups all over the field in every NFL game. I get that QBs are the super stars of the team, but this isn’t basketball. You need 11 guys executing perfectly along w/ good play calling to exploit mismatches. I always hear people saying Allen does it all by himself and the Bills have subpar talent. That is crap. We have the leader in Rush TDs in James Cook and a beast of an o-line who have been playing their asses off. It’s insulting to them when the media/fans say this Allen vs Jackson BS. An great NFL team is a well oiled machine that needs all the moving parts to function properly or the whole thing could break down. Too much credit (and blame) is always given to one sole individual. You could never get a job as a sports journalist.  You're too smart.

This game will only be won if Allen goes off for 325 or more and probably will need at least 4 scores.

Want to stop Jackson and his sidekick Henry then outscore them early. Neutralize Henry and Ricard by scoring at will in the first half.

So in other words, the key to winning this game is scoring more points than the other team does?

Roger that.

Keep dreaming OP

Make no doubt this is 100% Allen vs Jackson.

If the coaches don't see that then we have already lost. This game is 100% on Allen passing and running us to victory.  The others need to do their job, but if you think we can win this game with Allen passing for 175 yards you are dreaming. This game will only be won if Allen goes off for 325 or more and probably will need at least 4 scores.

NFL stopped being a team sport a couple decades ago. It's a QB, one sidekick on offense or defense, and a supporting cast league.

Unfortunately, that's not the Bills M.O. They normally start slow. It's either a one score game or they're behind at halftime. It's a little maddening, but at least they normally have a real good 2nd half.

Yes. The key is surviving the first half and not falling behind more than a TD and then making the proper adjustments. McDermott’s best quality is his half time adjustments.

Yes, 100% this.  I do not come here to consider outside opinions.  I come here to make phallic jokes and to inflict my opinions on the board.  So don't tell me what to think or feel!

Heard any good ones lately?

Actually an OP can edit the title without any outside assistance.

Lombardi (after a frustrating loss, holding up a football in a meeting the next day): "Gentlemen, this is a football."

Hornung: "Hey Coach, can you slow down?"

Really?

I was planning on fasting tomorrow because the last time I did we beat the Chiefs in Arrowhead. I know you're a doctor and all but is there any wiggle room on this order?

This always comes off as rude, but I'm intending to be helpful. This formatting is brutal on a message board to read.

You'll get more ppl to read with paragraph breaks every 3-4sentences.

Not at all rude. I’ll keep this in mind

Obviously it is team vs team, but QB is the most important position in team sports, and they've changed rules over time to emphasize that, so the narratives have influenced reality over time.

The funny thing is that it is just so obvious that AP voters and chunks of the media really really want Lamar to be considered the best, but it's just not true.  This season he has his best stats ever, but that along w 3k rushing as a team still got them 5 losses and they had the number 1 d in the NFL last season and the same for the last half of this season.  If he really was MVP that team would do better when he is so much more productive but that's not the case.

Even the Lamar apologists in the media when asked about how to stop the Ravens O emphasize stopping Henry.  Henry is so obviously the MVP of that offense, media commentators have to spin themselves in circles to prop up Lamar for his 3rd first team all pro which he was awarded with a total of 2 playoff victories.  It's just incongruent.

Sneaking through the double speak is the true general consensus, that Allen is the best and most valuable player, but Baltimore has a better roster hands down when you remove the quarterback.

I'm a Bills fan, so I'd much rather the bills win the next 3 games 4-3 and hoist the Lombardi than lose any of them but see Allen pad his all time playoff performance leading resume.

My expectations are that playoff lamar shows up, Allen balls out Allen style, and McDermott has grown some heart and a brain and slaps together schemes to get the bills the W today, but it's gonna be exciting no matter what happens and totally heartbreaking if the game goes like week 4.

As false and disingenuous as these narratives are, they really do add to the atmosphere and intrigue in the game and make sports even more of a fun distraction to our lives, so it's not all bad.

Let's go bills, great day for a massive dub!
