Comparing this game to Bengals playoff game

I'm in the camp of wanting to get this week over as soon as possible and just play the game, so we know the outcome.

 

This game, for whatever reason, is kicking up the BBFS in me.  I think it's the combination of the lack of success against very physical teams, little confidence in Babich, Henry's success against us with BAL and TEN, and McD's complete lack of in-game coaching skill.  On the other hand, I feel very good about the offense's ability to keep pace with their offense.

 

I feel like it's gonna be close and I hope and pray that McDermott doesn't botch the end-of-game decision making.

This feels so different than the Bengals game, for me at least. That whole week had a feeling of existential dread.

 

I can't explain why, but I am at total peace about this game. I was last week too.

No comparison can be made...that team was essentially mentally exhausted after the year they had with snow moving games to Detroit, dealing with Hamlin's situation and all of the emotions, etc. 

 

These are always the things that get mentioned but that season was cursed before it even started.

Dawson Knox's little brother died, Deon Dawkins "wife" almost died during camp, Micah Hyde suffered a neck injury early that looked like it could end his career, etc.

They just kept getting hammered with one thing after another, real world problems stacking up until they were just so exhausted they were ready to be done with football, imo.

We only beat 2 teams with winning records in the regular season, that’s paper tigerish.

That team was mentally exhausted by the time they faced Cincy in the playoffs. And it showed.

Yes, the team was emotionally drained possibly from all that happend and came out showing it. Cinci just took advantage and went for the throat

 

This time around the bills are having fun and its showing

Yeah, but when the two teams you beat are Kansas City (for their only loss), and Detroit on the road I think you can put the paper tiger moniker aside.

 

And Seattle won 10 games and Miami,  AZ and the Colts all won 8 and had losing records because the Bills beat them.

Ravens looked red hot in 2020 too, rushing their way to 34.3 points per game in weeks 13-17 and the wildcard. Then they went up to Orchard Park against a bad run defense and scored 3 points. Anything can happen.

The snowy field did not help them that day either. Neutralized Cincys biggest weakness (pass protection).

I've mentioned it before, but it's somewhat interesting from a psychological aspect of the need for some fans to create a boogeyman.

 

From the draft to the start of the season it was KC.

Then after the unheard of 2 game losing streak it was the team was in shambles.

Then after steadying the ship and defeating KC (the original boogeyman) it was DET.

Now they've resorted to Balt currently being the unstoppable force while sprinkling in a few weeks of being lucky to have avoided Cincy.

 

Forget the 13wins...

Forget the #2 Seed...

Forget the historic offense...

Forget the health of the team...

 

No matter the circumstances, there has to be a looming doubt attached to something.

Nah, that team that lost to Cinci had it coming. Even though the bills were 13-3 that season, I remember alot of us (myself included) thought a blowout game like that was coming, and unfortunately it did in the playoffs. This current team is better, but doesn't gaurentee a win.

Idk beating both the 1 seeds is a pretty big deal. That 2022 team looked a little shaky against bad teams down the stretch too which was pointed out by many people as it was happening.  

that Detroit-Miami stretch leading up to the cincy regular season game didn’t feel super good to a lot of people here probably yourself included 🤣

We had the #1 DVOA in the NFL in 2022

 

This year, we have the 4th rated DVOA and we beat a Chiefs team before they hit playoff stride, as we have multiple times in the past and a Lions team that was so decimated by injury on defense that they nearly allowed a 40 banger to Brock Purdy the following week. Those wins are solid wins, but to position them as reasons we are somehow different than 2022, a year which we actually dominated by a larger margin is just pure Bills fan folly. Hilariously inaccurate and misguided.
