Because that’s the game environment you’re going to be in. You should practice in the conditions that you will play in.

It is for this same reason that the Bills cranked up the heat in the field house to prepare for Miami games.

It is for this same reason that Belichick would bring the 6 time Super Bowl champion Patriots outdoors and pour water on the balls and make them practice in that.

Practicing in conditions opposite of what you will play is logically unbound. Footing is different on a frozen field. Ligaments do not stretch as much. Entire plays that work in good weather, don’t always work in bad weather, because they rely on speed that doesn’t exist in cold weather. etc.

The greatest coaches of all time understood this and would make their team practice in the conditions they play in. Including Parcells, Belichick, Landry and Lambeau.

This is outdated thinking.

the players have been here in buffalo since the beginning of the season, they know it's cold, they know what it feels like. They scrap ice off their trucks in the morning before work and shovel off their front steps. You dont have to simulate that environment

you do have to get the gameplan ready and keep everyone healthy. you do that indoors without distraction/risk

I think the weather WILL play a part in this game.

For those saying "Baltimore plays in cold weather, too". Well, yeah...but not like this.

The coldest temperature Lamar Jackson has ever played in is 27 degrees. It's supposed to be 8 degrees at kickoff on Sunday. There is a world of difference between 27 degrees and 8 degrees.

Lamar also said he won't be wearing gloves on Sunday. I realize they have giant industrial heaters on the sideline, but...fingers in 8 degree weather get cold regardless. They can tingle and lose feeling. I don't see how that wouldn't at least POTENTIALLY alter throwing ability to some degree.

Aside from all that, Harbaugh has the team practicing indoors this week. He said he'll make it as cold as he can in there, but he refuses to have the team practice outside right now because he says the practice field is frozen.

I respect the perspective of those who say the weather won't matter, and I respectfully disagree.

Today I learned the world is 19 degrees in size.

100% agree.  It's been cold down here in the Mid Atlantic near Baltimore but the coldest highs have been 28-30 degrees and typically in the mid-high 30's.  That's considered a cold day here.  This Saturday when the Ravens depart BWI it will be 44.  The high Sunday in Bmore is 35.   The Ravens don't play many games in the low teens or single digits, certainly not this season.  It's brutal.  The ball comes out of the QB's hands differently.  Catching the ball is harder,,, making slick plays are harder.  Lamar...being a Florida guy has stated in the past he doesn't like the cold.  Doesn't mean he won't ball out, it's just harder.  And we've seen the Bills this season play in freezing conditions and snow for that matter.  The weather Sunday evening is absolutely advantage Bills.  If Baltimore comes in and beats them, they will have earned it and I will tip my cap.

It is clear that you did not read the post at all and rushed to respond, because we were not talking about Buffalo or our players at all.

I’ve missed some of the convo, but really hope McD is getting those guys outside even a little bit.  Get them prepped as much as they can to playing in the cold, and what to expect.  To the extent Baltimore isn’t able to replicate that, it would be an advantage to us come game time.

if you are talking about the Ravens, I agree with everyone here. The game is in the bag. Easy victory that is likely over by halftime cause its cold

Hopefully the Bills come out loading the box and playing man. Force Lamar to beat them with his arm in this cold weather.

and hopefully this time we have the LBs to make the plays against their TEs...Last time they were taken to the cleaners.

Wind isn't supposed to be a factor right? Was actually kinda hoping for some wind as it might make it tougher for Tucker kicking fg's.

….and the wind might blow some of Bass’ kicks IN? Is that what you’re saying?  😊

I apologize, I couldn’t help myself. I should not have put negative waves out there. I respect Donald Sutherland too much.

Ppl can downplay it all they want. If you haven't played in this weather and cold temps it matters. It matters in a massive way if you grew up in Florida or Georgia and need to start playing in this.

Beane has built the bills to play in this. Allen has spent 10 years in Wyoming and buffalo. It's a massive massive advantage for us

Cold has never affected Allen.  Wind not so much either.  I just want no snow or rain.  I hate watching football when the players have no footing.

You might hate it, but the Bills did pretty good in the San Fran game.  The Niners were slip sliding around in hilarious fashion.

Well, that's the low temperature, at least as of right now, it will likely not be quite that cold...temp showing around 16 at kickoff dropping to about 12ish or so by end of game.

It matters the most in terms of ball security. There is a very real and noticeable difference in how well you can grip the football and how slippery it gets. The colder it gets, the less grip you have and the slipperier the ball gets.  Fumbles at these temps increase by 35% of normal.

Some might have said the opposite for that home playoff game against the Bengals. Just sayin.

It matters but you are over exaggerating the impact and advantage it gives us. The worst team in the NFL came here a few weeks ago and almost beat us in weather that was identical to what it will be on Sunday.

No one, bills included, wants to play in this crap.

He has said out loud that he doesn't like the cold. Doesn't mean he won't perform well, but it has been said.

I don’t think he’s never played in weather as cold as it will be Sunday.  But overall I think weather’s impact on a player’s performance is largely overrated…unless we’re talking Mike McDaniels Dolphins

We all saw this in KC last year when Miami went there in the playoffs.

No, but Tucker is probably the best kicker in the nfl, so any advantage we can take away from the Ravens 🤷

Not this year he hasn't been.
