Oh God yes. It’s win win. Either Bills win or you win. And I will gladly pay money to see the Bills win 🤑. It almost feels like you contributed to the win in a weird way.

You captured my sentiments perfectly. And here I was thinking I coined the term " emotional hedge"!  In fact, the last time I did this was that Bills Ravens playoff game 4 years ago.  Best money I ever spent

I hedge my emotional pain with financial gain all the time

I can only assume that means you’re not married…

I don't bet, but I'm considering doing it for this game just to hedge my bets.

I have horrible luck, so betting against the Bills will obviously make them win, right?

Sure, I may lose money, but at least I'll be happy the Bills won. And if they lose, I can at least pretend I was smart & profit off my misery.

Do your part and bet the house and retirement on the Ravens. You owe us that!!

Not a gambling guy but I could see it as a win win.

The Bills lose- you make some $$$ to ease the pain (a little).

The Bills win- well as long as it's not big money there I think it still wouldn't ruin a lot of fans night

Yep. An emotional hedge.

Yes I have bet against the bills before.

My thought being if someone asked me "Would You gladly spend $100 to have the bills win today?" My answer would usually be a resounding yes.

And if they lose and I end up with a couple extra dollars in my pocket, so be it.

I hope nobody takes this the wrong way.

I bet against the Bills all the time. If they win, I'm extremely happy. If they lose, hey, silver lining ... at least my dinner was paid for.

The bigger the game, the more I bet. It doesn't affect whether I want them to win or not. Not even a little.

Betting on the Bills to WIN, to me, is crazy.

I have enough at stake emotionally each game already. Can't imagine adding a wager into that.

I bet against them in the divisional round last year.   If I am being honest the money made the loss sting less.  Am I proud of it?  Not really.

LOL... so I have made one sports bet in my life... I was in Vegas... for work actually and we went to the sportsbook to watch the Dolphins Bills Monday night game... Drew Bledsoe was the QB... and before the game I put 20 bucks on the Dolphins... my thinking was I would happily take this 20 dollar bill and burn it on LVB if the Bills win... and if they lose I get 20 bucks.... well the Dolphins were ahead I think like 17-7 and we favored by three...  like 10 seconds left with the Bills on the 5 yard line looking to score a meaningless TD... and I am like dang the point spread... not only are the Bills gonna lose, but I am gonna lose my 20 bucks too if they score! The despair was intolerable... so the one and only time I rooted my a$$ of for a red zone incompletion for the Bills like I had a Miami hat on... I was so happy the ball got broken up... and I won my stupid 20 bucks lol...  Decided that this was way too much stress to add on to a Bills game ... never did that again...

Fantasy football already messes with my rooting interests enough, as it is (e.g. wanting Bills win over Lions, but hoping that Amon-Ra St Brown has a good fantasy outing - which happened, btw :) ).  But, no, I could not place a wager on a Bills loss - just couldn't do it.

I am waiting for this line to get to 2 and then hammering the Bills, also money line. I think Baltimore is in a world of hurt...

Looking for hopeful reasons... just interested in why you think Baltimore is in a world of hurt?

Nov 15, 1981, The Bills were 4 point favorites over the St Louis Cardinals. Needing some extra Christmas money, my buddy and myself each put a c-note on the Bills, thinking it was close to 'a sure thing'.

I wasn't able to watch the game as I was working retail that day, and had to rely on customers for updates.

The Bills got pounded 24-0. $110 lost with the vig. That's probably about $350+ in 2024 dollars.

First and last time I bet with a bookie and never more than a few bucks with anyone else.

I have bet against the Bills a few times in my life. I’ve never done it in a meaningful game and have never been conflicted as to what I want for an outcome (the same goes for fantasy). The Bills winning is all that matters. The handful of times that I’ve bet against them, generally, has been when they were the favorite and I thought the spread was too big. If they give 7 and win by 4 it’s a win/win. I don’t know if I’ve bet against them since returning to the playoffs in 2017.
