T.E. Posted yesterday at 02:10 AM Posted yesterday at 02:10 AM Any team who hoped to trade for J.J. McCarthy (like maybe Pittsburgh or Cleveland) better go back to the drawing board after the last 5 quarters Darnold has played. 1 Quote

I agree, I've always thought that the rule shouldn't be interpreted that way. 'Intentional' should be the operative word, and that was intentionally throwing the ball into the ground to avoid a sack. No intent to complete a pass. 1 1 Quote

How many times have you seen a QB throw the ball at the ground when a screen pass is blown up? Why not throw a flag on that going by your logic? 1 Quote

You would have to call qb’s throwing into the ground at the feet of receivers then. The intent there is to avoid the sack. 1 Quote

In your example, the qb has no intention of completing the pass, or shouldn't matter of a receiver is ' in the area'. 2 minutes ago, I'mBuff said: You would have to call qb’s throwing into the ground at the feet of receivers then. I don’t know whoever came up with the idea of allowing the QB to dirt the ball in the pocket. It Penalizes a good defensive play. 1 1 1 Quote

As I said on another post, you would then start having to call throws that are tossed at receivers feet. I wouldn’t have a problem with that as long as it was consistent. 1 Quote
