SoCal Deek Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Any chance Kromer can take on Special Teams in his spare time? 😉 2 1 1 Quote

There are a lot of reasons this Offense is great, but the reason Josh Allen and James Cook get to do what they do really comes down to the O-Line!! Coach Kromer may be one of the best position coaches in the league, and he really gets the most out of these guys. Dion Dawkins has always been good, but he has really taken it to another level these last two years under Kromer. O'Cyrus Torrence should have been a 1st round pick, and was a steal as a 2nd rounder....after a slow start to this season he is really turning into a future All-Pro RG....he is becoming dominant. I was skeptical of the Spencer Brown pick, but under Kromer, he has developed into an elite RT.....the Bills signed him to a contract extension just at the right time, as his contract would have been a lot more expensive this offseason! The move of McGovern to Center obviously was the right move, and had us all quickly forgetting Mitch Morse. You know you have a great O-line when a more than solid LG like David Edwards would have to be considered as "the weak link".....his play is far from that. Let's also throw in the official 6th OL Alec Anderson.......this guy plays with a mean streak......he's always mixing it up with someone, and brings a real toughness to the running game! Go Bills!!!!!! I'm glad you included Anderson - the jumbo package with him in has been so effective - and it has been cool to see the team use it so much in the regular season as if they were working to perfect it for the playoffs. And the 'reported-eligible' big man TD is still pending! He was definitely going after guys yesterday - exactly what you need in the playoffs is a few guys with a real edge 2 Quote
Warriorspikes51 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 This OL is absolutely superior to any unit the Bills have had under McDermott The use of a 6th OL is brilliant. It gives us a competitive advantage Notably this unit plays with a physical nastiness that not many Bills OL units have had Brown, Dawkins and Anderson especially enjoy mauling 1 1 Quote
Don Otreply Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Every plays success depends on the O-lines execution, can’t say enough about the impact they have on our success! 1 1 Quote
Lofton80 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Throw in Knox, Hollins, Gilliam and of course #17, it is a physical group. 1 Quote
Dubie54 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 This unit has been a major reason for our success this year. We have also been very fortunate that this unit has stayed healthy through the entire year. There are rarely any plays where you see guys blowing an assignment - they just operate with such a level of cohesiveness it’s fun to watch. We heard how Denver’s D was playing at a league leading level in many categories throughout the second half of the year and this unit just physically overpowered their D line. Right now, this unit and Philly’s are the best in the NFL. 3 1 Quote
Jerome007 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I feel I can be one that can say " I told you so" when the Bills signed McGovern and drafted Torrence. Everybody was keying on that magical WR, but it starts with the OLine. And I expected these moves would deliver. It went even better! Brown has also exceeded expectations. I mean, he was good. Now he 's great. He and Dawkins are maulers. McGovern to center was also quite the move by the coaches. Morse was amazing at pulling, super fast for a big guy, but his push in run plays was below average. The constant addition of a 6th lineman is awesome, Anderson is sure doing his part, and I expect copycats (frequent use of a 6th Olineman). No salary cap for coaches, right? Pay Kromer and Brady to stay! Quote
BuffaloMatt Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Too bad we cant turn Anderson in to a two way player and play nose guard to stuff King Henry next week. 1 Quote

Commented yesterday to my son, you look at all the o linemen they look thick and sometimes unfit (Although I know they are not). Brown looks fit and trim and much more athletic. His development has been excellent after he recovered from the back problems. 2 Quote

I don’t care what it takes. Keep him happy and in Buffalo. If Joe Brady leaves he is going to try and take Kromer with him. I’m very nervous about that. I dunno, sure all coaches aspire to more but think about the job security both have here and the talent they have to work with. If I'm either of them, especially Brady, I'd be real careful about where I go. None of the available options currently strike me as particularly inviting, that may change after the postseason. Hull was better than McGovern but the bills guards are way more powerful than ritcher or davis. Even Alec Anderson is a overwhelming powerful run blocker. The tackle depth might be the best in the NFL too. Knox is also a top 5 blocker at te Spencer Brown might be the best olineman in the NFL. It's absolutely absurd the displacement he gets on down blocks. He's approaching Jimbo Covert/ Jim Lachey levels of dominance Grable at swing tackle & Van Demark at backup LT is a masterclass of building depth through cheap UDFA/Day 3 traits upside guys to give to a guy like Kromer. Perfect marriage of personnel resource allocation & coaching. 3 1 Quote

To be fair, there is/was a lot of great offensive lines in the playoffs this year. It depends on where you look to an extent, but one source had the eagles, ravens, Commanders, Packers, broncos, and Bucs all graded higher than the bills. Lions and the Chiefs were right behind the Bills. Another source had bills at 4th with Broncos, Ravens, bucs graded higher, and the chiefs and lions right behind the bills. 1 Quote

I got irritated last week with all the talk about the Bronco’s D line leading the lead in sacks, but hardly any mention of the Bills O line giving up the the least amount of sacks. But the pundits can go ahead and keep dissing the Bills; I think they’ll use it as even more motivation. 2 Quote

The grass isn't always greener. Seems like out of every one that is available the best gigs are Jacksonville and Chicago. Jax has a lot of talent on that roster and play in a questionable division with how Houston have panned out this year. Indy are a debacle and you never know what team is going to show up. Tennessee are an after thought even if they go QB in the draft. Chicago has the most to work with but that division looks rough. All 3 teams were 10+ wins and playing for that division until GB dropped 3 of their last 5; all divisional games. If the options are any of the others; Saints, Jets, Raiders then you’d hope he sticks around. Can’t blame him if he departs though as a HC regardless of how bad the situation is hard to pass up. It’s the cream of the crop in football and who knows when he has that opportunity again. 1 Quote

shane nelson Posted January 13 Posted January 13 (edited) Love out O-Line for the past two years. While having a great QB is critical, the OL is on equal ground to be elite. Look at the Hogs, Dallas in the '90's, or NE during its run. Our OL is terrific Edited January 13 by shane nelson 1 Quote
NewEra Posted January 13 Posted January 13 We’ll certainly find out on Sunday. They got worked in week 4. I think they’ll show better. If cook runs for 100 I don’t think much chance we lose. what a weapon Cook is- the OL needs to make sure he’s got some room. Quote
