Sojourner Posted January 13 Posted January 13 At least we got the tandem bike of him and his brother going over the falls. What a picture! Quote

You can’t say it wasn’t exciting. I remember the day they signed Tyrod. Glowing reports from Baltimore & Rex having "inside information" from his Baltimore buds. I immediately got on the Tyrod bandwagon & penciled him in as the starter because with those reports, he had to be better than Cassel or EJ. I even sent an e-mail to my friend Petrino titled "We've found our franchise QB" & all I put in the e-mail was a picture of a tie-rod. He hadn't heard of the signing & replied asking me why I sent him a photo of a car part proclaiming that we had found our franchise QB. 1 Quote

I hope the Jest are stupid enough to take him back. Some of their dopey talking heads are advocating for it. I hope the dysfunction in NJ never ends. The Jets talking heads are all for Rex because he gives the media a lot of access. He craves the attention. 1 Quote

He wanted to build a smash mouth bully football team. That’s why we went out and got Richie Incognito, that fullback whose name I forget, Charles Clay, and so forth. Quote

I saw that and it's just kind of a moment me realizes how far this team came since then. Now 5 AFC East conference titles in a row and a consistent threat in the playoffs. I mean even down 7-0 today I wasn't stressed in the slightest. Rex- I'll admit I did like that hire at the time but wasn't sold on him. I wasn't lurking these boards at the time but I found it hilarious now 95% of the former BBMB like loved that hire in real time. And in reality when Josh was drafted I think it was mainly 50/50 around here? It's amusing to see fans that edited their opinion of Josh on that draft thread from 2018. Let’s hope he gets hired by the Jets tomorrow. Quote
4merper4mer Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I admit that I liked it at the time. I liked it for maybe 5 weeks into the season. I think we played Indy week 1 and looked good. I soon realized that his defense was antiquated and we had wasted picks on Washington and Ragland. I don’t think Shaq was horrible but drafting an injured guy was stupid. Quote

Thank God it's now a distant footnote in Bills history. 1 Quote

I’m not afraid to admit it… I liked this hire. After years of mediocre coaching, I was excited that Ryan was hired. After 14 or so years, we needed a bombastic “name” coach who was going to project hope and confidence after two years of Doug Marrone. I remember Adam Schein (a Syracuse grad) on SiriusXM who said what an awful hire this was for Buffalo and that Rex’s “clown show” would be a downgrade from Marrone. He was spot on. I will say that his tenure was so bad it’s funny looking back now. My favorite moment was signing IK Enemkpali for no other reason than because he knocked out Geno Smith. Then he actually tried playing him and the joke was him 🤣 Edited January 13 by JohnNord 1 Quote

I think that was their last winning season too. In retrospect it was definitely a very weird game when you think about it. I strongly associate Rex with the Jets and Fitz with the Bills. That Week 17 victory was our Super Bowl which was absolutely as pathetic as it sounds. Unfortunately it would be the closest Fitz would get to reaching the postseason. 1 Quote
BillsPride12 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Kinda crazy and fun looking back at the Rex hire as it would be the last dysfunctional hire and after that would usher in McD and his process era. I want a Super Bowl as bad as anybody but compared to the drought years it's been all gravy ever since. Hard to believe Rex was 10 years ago already. Holy Hell does time fly by! 1 Quote

Da webster guy Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Rex was great to interview and the players loved the dude. Total opposite of McD who is just coachspeak and cliche lines and never says a thing. But McD sure is better w the details, and has backed off his crazy micromanaging style he had early on. Pretty good delegator now. If only he had the Rex Ryan ceramic teeth he'd be all set 1 Quote

machine gun kelly Posted January 13 Posted January 13 As much as I hate these drought topics, he was the reason we landed our excellent GM and HC, as the Pegulas learned from their mistake. He does a nice job on the positive for sports tv, as he’s interesting. 1 1 Quote
