My partner remembers that day well because I was absolutely raging when I heard the news. Rex Ryan isn't an excuse for domestic abuse. 4 Quote
Captain Hindsight Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Lets hope the Jets mark the anniversary by hiring him again 2 Quote
Roundybout Posted January 13 Posted January 13 There was a ton of hype around that offseason though. The “build a bully” quote. The Kiko/McCoy trade. Matt Cassel. You can’t say it wasn’t exciting. 1 Quote
YoloinOhio Posted January 13 Posted January 13 (edited) Is this thing on? Because it’s about to be! what a time. Mickey Mouse org back then. But we ate it up bc we were so scarred from Marrone. Edited January 13 by YoloinOhio Quote

I liked "honestly, only 4th on defense is a bit disappointing with the talent they have here. We are going to lead the league in defense that is just a fact." Followed by a fall from 4th to 19th, an offseason of talk about how the guys had "bought in" and "taken ownership" of the defense and then a second season where the defense ranked *checks notes* 19th. Don Otreply Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Rex is a caricature of his former self, and has been that for years now, 1 Quote
chris heff Posted January 13 Posted January 13 That hire took place here, when Brandon would come down to meet with the Pegulas he would stay at a hotel down the street from where I live. Saw Russ, Rex and Greg Roman at a restaurant having lunch. I tried to convince myself it could be a good hire. Didn’t take long to figure out it was not. I guess on the bright side it lead to Pegulas cleaning house. Quote

What does McCoy have to do with the Rex hiring? It was a horrible choice, plain and simple. I hope the Jest are stupid enough to take him back. Some of their dopey talking heads are advocating for it. I hope the dysfunction in NJ never ends. Quote

Well to be fair to the Jets fans who else is there to excite them even a little? At least with Rex fans feel like hey we might at least get lip service. Quote
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 With the Jets passing on Ryan as a coach, I wonder if he'll go into politics. Perfect place for a clown like him. 🤨 2 Quote

I wasn't lurking these boards at the time but I found it hilarious now 95% of the former BBMB like loved that hire in real time. And in reality when Josh was drafted I think it was mainly 50/50 around here? It's amusing to see fans that edited their opinion of Josh on that draft thread from 2018. 🎯 1 Quote

Five minutes after taking her back, you wish you'd just stuck with porn. I hope they do hire him. For a franchise that's done nothing outside of the 1969 Namath SB team, their fans are the most uninformed sh*t talkers on the planet. They don't deserve happiness or success. Ever. 2 Quote

I just made an analogy to the last election post in the PPP part of the site about Rex. 1 minute ago, ExWNYer said: He's akin to taking back your crazy, toxic ex-girlfriend because you're in a dry spell. MJS Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I hated the hire, but I convinced myself that it would at least mean that our defense would be dominant. And what happened? He came in and ruined the defense. He was just too arrogantly married to his scheme and unwilling to adjust as the rest of the league passed him by. And I was against drafting Josh Allen. The media told me I shouldn't like him and I should like Rosen instead, and I foolishly listened. Since then, I've been much more careful about how I derive my opinions on prospects. I did jump on the Josh Allen band wagon pretty quickly, though. His rookie season showed me what I needed to see. Quote
Albany,n.y. Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I was very happy the day the Bills hired Rex. Then the next day I bought the NYC newspapers & the sports pages were basically saying "Blowhard cons the Buffalo Bills" They were all over his act. Soon after I realized they were right & I should have known better. PS: Come on Jets, bring back Rex😄 1 Quote
