Another Fan Posted January 13 Posted January 13 January 12, 2015 In reality Rex was only here 2 years ago and his time at this point is largely forgivable and forgettable to me. I saw that and it's just kind of a moment me realizes how far this team came since then. Now 5 AFC East conference titles in a row and a consistent threat in the playoffs. I mean even down 7-0 today I wasn't stressed in the slightest. Rex- I'll admit I did like that hire at the time but wasn't sold on him. I wasn't lurking these boards at the time but I found it hilarious now 95% of the former BBMB like loved that hire in real time. And in reality when Josh was drafted I think it was mainly 50/50 around here? It's amusing to see fans that edited their opinion of Josh on that draft thread from 2018. 2 2 Quote
Sojourner Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Was never a fan of Rex but given the defense we had that he walked in on and his history of success with Sanchez & Co. we probably all expected better. What a dysfunctional disaster that hiring was lol 1 1 Quote
BMWR100RT Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I remember getting a call from a Jets fan friend. When a Jets fan feels bad for you, times are bad. Dude is such a fraud.... 2 Quote
QCity Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Played Russ Brandon (and the Pegulas) like a fiddle to the tune of $27.5M. 1 1 Quote
Livinginthepast Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I thought Rex would be a good hire. He had beat the Pats in the playoffs. His resume was decent and most importantly, I thought Rex would bring some gravitas to the franchise that had at that stage become a place that nobody wanted to play for. He ended up being an absolute joke. From his disorganized playcalling and clueless in game decisions to hiring his useless brother and having that team preacher giving him advice on the sideline. He titillated us with ending the playoff drought but in the end failed miserably. 1 1 Quote
Chugga Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I bought my season tickets a month or so after he was announced as head coach. Between the Pegulas buying the team and Rex being named head coach I had a lot of faith in our future. I was partially right… Quote
transient Posted January 13 Posted January 13 The best thing I can say about Wrecks is that his suckitude is indirectly responsible for the Bills drafting Allen. Quote

streetkings01 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I remember forcing myself to like the hire, but deep down I knew it was a mistake. All it took was week 2 against the Patriots to confirm it was a mistake. 1 Quote
Iiiiiiiiive Got a Feeeelin Posted January 13 Posted January 13 remember when we employed BOTH of these fools? 1 Quote
GunnerBill Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Never hated a Bills hire that much. It was doomed to fail from moment one. My partner remembers that day well because I was absolutely raging when I heard the news. 1 Quote
holla83 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 (edited) When Rex hired his brother I changed the name of my fantasy football team to "Two Ryans Don't Make a Right". I went to the Bills/Jets game at Met Life at the end of that 2016 season, the week after Rex had been fired. I lost count of how many Jets fans came up to us in the parking lot wanting to know if we were happy that he was gone. Edited January 13 by holla83 Quote

Dude is such a fraud.... When he got fired I had a Jets fan try to argue his tenure as coach here wasn’t that bad overall if he went 15-16 overall with Tyrod and at times EJ as his QB. Yeah I guess on paper it didn’t look terrible but to me that shows you really kind of have to follow teams day in and day out to really know. Rex just never felt like a good fit. Anyway the point of the thread was to pinpoint more how far the team has come since then. 2 Quote
Another Fan Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 The last Bills game of 2015 still I think haunts the Jets. Rex kept them out of the playoffs another year. lol. I think that was their last winning season too. In retrospect it was definitely a very weird game when you think about it. I strongly associate Rex with the Jets and Fitz with the Bills. 1 Quote

And then they came back week 2, TNF the following year and destroyed us. Fitz's Jets tenure faded fast after that. But yea. The whole Rex period felt like trying to fit an every growing cube into a cylinder shaped hole. 1 Quote
