Has Bills D turned the corner with Milano back to almost normal?

they took milano out  few times on 3rd and long when in dime.  I think that's smart because it gives him some rest.  i will say the front 6 (8 if you include when the bring d backs on a blitz) is way more aggressive.  I don't think we need to blitz a lot (i think we generally suck at blitzes that don't involve a clever stunt or like a slot corner just coming in unaccounted for in a scheme mismatch) but i do think we need everyone but our corners to be firing up the field.  when we have to flip hips and run around (outside of corners and early coverage by lbs) we just get washed.  and when we have guys standing and reading they get bumped off at the top of routes.  a little pass rush goes a long way to helping all of this of course, but the biggest key to me is instead of living in fear of a deep pass all the time, we need to challenge and put our guys where they have a chance to make plays.  we did that vs kc, sf (kinda), detroit, and the jets late in the year.  we totally did that vs denver.

 

they had a couple of unlucky drops, but we had a couple picks bounce off of hands.  we will have to confuse lamar and execute passes to the outside to beat baltimore next week.

Jets had under 200 yards of offense, Broncos end up with 224 yards of offense(only 157 after the first drive)

 

This is boding very, VERY well heading into next week if Milano is in fact the lynchpin for this defensive turnaround, which watching live game action, it appears he is...dude was all over the field today...

Any logical thinker knew that it would take Milano weeks to get back to himself. Although he is not quite 100% still, it was great to see flashes, especially in the run game and as a spy. I do find it funny thinking of all the posters who said he was "washed" and needed to be "released in the off season". Dude didnt play football for over a year!!!

OK, but they were extremely unsuccessful from the jump. Henry had 186yds and 2 TD's.

This is not an earth shattering revelation, but I think Groot had to have a big game. Not necessarily getting sacks, but he needs to play outstanding in run defense. If he can, that certainly allows guys like Milano to make plays

I'm hopeful that Milano is back, at least mostly.  His absence, along with some other defensive players being hurt really devastated Buffalo's defensive effort against Baltimore in the regular season.  I'm hoping his presence and maybe some maturing by Bobby Babich will be enough to change the outcome next week.

Pittsburgh didn't even look ready to play yesterday...it was honestly shameful.

Not sure defensive performances against the New Jersey Jets and the Rookie QB Broncos (who can't run the ball) are reliable measuring sticks come playoff time, but it's definitely not BAD news.

 

That one drive in the 3rd quarter that saw Nix scrambling for yardage, their only promising drive all 2nd half, seemed to be EXCLUSIVELY the result of Bills pass rushers losing lane discipline and giving away escape routes. That kind of dumb aggression will get severely punished by Jackson and Co. Gotta stay smart and in your lane next week.

Partially true, but they were also doing it to the Lions prior to players getting hurt in game, namely Milano...Lions didn't really start scoring points until late in the 3rd when Spector started getting abused in his absence.

respectfully disagree- did he make more splash plays than Milano? For sure.

But he was so lost in coverage- And even when Milano wasn't playing great, he was in the right spots a lot of the times on passing downs, where Dorian would bite hard on misdirection/play action

Fair points but MM was not even at his level.. but played well and showed that jump today. I hope they  both get snaps together

Yeah but they'll be preparing for the 4-2-5 and there will be crowd noise.  Lamar will have trouble.

Williams wasn't that much better and Milano had to get back to form. It was gonna take a couple weeks. But of course people here after 2 games are like "Milano is cooked" "is Milano done" like, have some patience lol

Milano looked much better. Still very little pass rush and bad safety play. 

Run defense has been better of late.

im not declaring the turning of a corner. We beat up a team we are considerably better than.
