Bills time of possesion >41 minutes and the Bronco's had zero 1st downs in the 3rd quarter.  I'd say it was a pretty good defensive effort after the 1st Bronco's drive.

This isnt just a "criticism of McD" as much as a general rule of thumb.

I agree but in a game of chess back and forth, especially against a coach who is considered one of the better play callers …you aren’t going to be perfect.

 

If its all the time like in the Rex Ryan years, I would say its more of a problem.

I complained about defence before this game,  but I thought they played well outside of the first drive.  I'm concerned about stopping Henry and really believe we should insert Williams in as 3rd lb to add more size

If folks weren’t worried about this defense laying an egg and losing in the divisional round, this topic wouldn’t exist. It’s a rubber stamp that the fear is real.

That was by far the best D performance in the playoffs outside the first Jaguar game and maybe including it...

 

Actually it was a better performance since the Jags put up almost 150 yards rushing that game on us...

Pretty sure this thread is an epic troll job that was posted immediately after a good defensive performance intentionally to have a bit of a chuckle at the negative fans expense for this week at least and nobody actually bothered to read the OP haha

If the Bills' defense plays this well, or even close to this level, next week and beyond, the Bills will likely win the Super Bowl.

 

Relax and enjoy the ride, as this is clearly, unequivocally, a superb football team, one of the top 2-3 in the league now, and getting better each week, peeking. This is a team that has passed almost every major test this year, including today's.

 

Relax and enjoy the ride. But if they do lose next week, we know that you and some others are already readying the hate posts, hoping for the 'best'. While you may get what you want, I believe you are going to be just as disappointed next weekend as you are tonight..

Agreed, it has never been more on his shoulders to prove. Beat Lamar and Mahomes when it counts, then he can have a victory lap. As fun as it was, this game surely wasn't the litmus test.

Agreed. Great defensive performance this week. If they keep it up, they can beat anyone. I doubt the offense starts as slow next week.

I’m very much enjoying the ride. We shall see how the defense performs over the next few weeks (hopefully).

That’s the point lol. For folks who are supposedly “enjoying the ride” you sure are worried about what the “haters” are gonna say if they fall short again. Especially if the defense falls apart. Again.

 

Take your own advice. No need to start complaining before anything bad happens.

Given that, when Josh Allen is playing well is there a scheme or defense in the entire league that contain or even slow down much less stop that offense?

 

Why is there an expectation that when you have talented offenses led by HOF level QBs who are playing well, that McDermott should have a scheme capable of containing or even slow down much less stopping them? 
 

In the playoffs against great offenses, the barometer is not going to be how well you stop them. It’s if you can create the occasional opportunities to create an opening for your own HOF QB to take advantage of.  A punt here and there, stopping them for FGs, a rare turnover…that’s what you hope for. 

KC won last year 17-10, and they scored a total of 39 against the Eagles and Chiefs this year. They aren’t unstoppable if you have Super Bowl aspirations

Wild card round is sort of meh. Skyler Thompson, Mason Rudolph, Bo Nix, they’re good wins, but look at how the better teams have done this year? Just destroyed the away teams. I don’t think the NFL has more than 3-4 high level playoff teams. Those come in the divisional round or later unless you’re the #1 seed, then sometimes it’s not until the conference championship game. We have one of those wins, vs Baltimore. Next week is a great opportunity to shed a lot of demons for McD and this franchise. Anybody who thinks the Bills fans who have been critical of McD aren’t fully united in wanting to eat humble pie just don’t get it. We all want this one. If you don’t you’re a sick individual.
