Another disaster by McDs defense in the playoffs

Any asshat coach can get lucky with their talent and have a great year. Elite coaches have runs that McDermott has had since coming to Buffalo

The Bills are healthy this year on defense for the first time in recent memory. And the nursing home comment isn’t? Lol. Defense had some red zone holds/stops against cincy and the offense was a complete no show.  Bills were down 17-10 midway through the third you’re makin it sound like we gave up a 50 burger 😂

Like yall attacking McDermott. So why not Beane when he’s signed exactly one all pro type of talent through free agency? Almost exclusively this defense has been developed by McDermott and his staff, and rarely gotten standout performers through free agency. 
 

Von was the only big time signing or trade for this defense. Everyone else has been a role player outside the draft. 
 

And yet the Bills D has been perhaps the most consistently good for about 7-8 years now

If you think the bills defense failed against the chiefs this past season, that’s a you issue and not a McDermott issue

I don't know if it was the actual gameplan, but keeping the ball away from Denver's offense with long time of possession drives by our offense definitely helped our defense. Think we have to do something similar to have a chance against the Raven's offense.

Let’s not take a victory lap yet.  This is what a decent defense was supposed to do against a rookie QB.

 

Right now, the Bills are in the exact place they have been the previous 4 seasons.  Still a long, long, long way to go.  Only once were they able to get past that point (against a much inferior version of Lamar Jackson).  And they still haven’t shown they can remotely slow down playoff Patrick Mahomes.

 

Nobody is impressed winning a Wild Card game.  It’s the next three games that defines who this team really is.

im a certified mcclappy hater, but i even said i have a goofy gut feeling that they will turn it up and be multiple in the playoffs.

 

they took great care of denver today, no turnovers but still dominated.  the real test is to come, it's gonna take all of that and some picks instead of almost picks to put them away.

Agreed. But I don’t think the D needs to be elite to get to Nola, especially if the offense keeps humming. That’s the strength of this team. Average defense with our offense playing well is the recipe I think.

Should’ve been a good amount of points earned honestly…that Denver offense was hot coming into this one.  They scored 24 or more in 7 consecutive games dating back to that first chiefs game with the blocked gw fg 

 

they’re getting talked about like their offense is incompetent though for some reason lol nix looked like a rookie the first half of the year but he more than offset it in the second half

Yeah you’re right. Fake punts at your 30 yd line in the 3rd quarter with demar Hamlin in a 3 point game. However it does have the same common denominator doesn’t  it? However the defense and McDermott play calling in crucial moments are separate issues. So fair enough.

If we can "shock the world" (prove the TV 🤡's and Lamar jugglers wrong) next week, then it will boost McD in most everyone's eyes.

They certainly aren't going to shut down a team as elite as the Ravens right now because nobody is built to do that. Just can't have it require a scoring drive essentially every time Josh Allen touches the ball. It can't be like last year where Josh plays nearly a perfect game and it isn't enough because of a few unfortunate plays at the end.

Final score of 7 points, is an excellent result for the team. 

 

But the first half was defense was a courtney sutton drop and a FG doink away from being a bit of an actual disaster.  This against a rookie QB and 7th seed.  Its hard to imagine a performance like that first half being sufficient in any of the next three games.
