We allowed 7 points. Only 1 TD. In a playoff game. That's great. I mean, most of it is Josh Allen, James Cook, our O-line, and Brady controlling the ball on offense to make our defense look good, but whatever.

 

Tony Romo TRIED to unravel our nerves during the game when Broncs scored that TD bomb early in the game. Didn't work because that score was way too early. We had a long way to go, remember? There is still 4 Quarters to play.

 

We blew out the Broncs. In a playoff game; pure domination. Josh Allen didn't commit any turnovers and he had great game management. He's poised. He's calm. Those are GREAT signs of a Champion. He didn't show that in prior seasons.

 

Let's see next weekend vs. Ravens. In OUR HOUSE. On our field. We got demolished by the Ravens earlier in the season. The odds of the Ravens dominating us AGAIN are extremely low.

 

That's where we can see if McDermott can keep his stupid decisions in check.

 

- We cannot let Ravens score first and Derrick Henry run crazy. 3 defenders should be hitting Derrick Henry every time he touches the ball.

- Josh Allen, James Cook, O-line, Kincaid, Shakir, Knox, and Amari Cooper have to eat the clock on offense.

- Minimize penalties

 

 

 

 

 

I would disagree with the bolded part about Josh in "prior seasons". He's largely been fantastic in the playoffs, the Cincy game really being the only total clunker. Coaching and defense have been the biggest reasons why we haven't had success in January. I mean if you didn't see calm and poise in the 13 seconds game I'm not sure what to tell you.

Idk how clear that is…I think it’s a nod to how we all overreact to each individual game and we just straight up reject the games that counteract the points we’re trying to make personally.  I don’t want to put words in his mouth though lol

The problem is, "you" talk about McDermott like he is just the DC. He is the HC. He is in charge of the defense AND the offense AND the special teams.

 

Everyone talks about how great Joe Brady is, but it is McDermott who fired Dorsey in the middle of a season in favor of Brady, and who hired him in the first place. It's also silly to think McDermott has no say on our offensive gameplan, active roster, etc. You guys used to laugh at him when he said complementary football, but look at what the idea of a balanced team has brought.

 

McDermott has had a top offense practically his whole time here in Buffalo, and most here would have you believe the Bills accomplish this almost in spite of him.  but the defense? Oh, that's 100% his fault.

I don’t think people really view playoff games against hof QBs entirely correctly…it really is a team effort that’s all about who can get 1 to 2 more stops and/or force a huge turnover to give the offense a shot then the offense delivering…people get hung up on the total points allowed way too much.   I’d argue that mash unit with aj klein did that forcing the fumble through the end zone and gave the offense a shot to win it last year and the whole team came up short. Singling out the defense in that particular game is just bizarre to me when anyone really could’ve made one play to win the game.

 

even the bengals game people are being really hyperbolic about making it sound like the bengals dropped 60 on us lol.  Cincy had 17 points in the mid third  then went up two scores late third and the bills offense followed that up with their third 3 and out of the game 
 

13 seconds was absolutely a full defensive failure 100% but a couple other games are getting a bit twisted to fit a narrative imo.

Bumping this for the h8ers as Mcdermott’s defense continues to be an integral reason we have won two playoff games and are playing in Arrowhead Sunday night. 
 

We have now won the wild card and divisional round without Josh needing to be Superman. Something many have said was impossible given McDs limitations. 
 

His soft Nickel refusing to adjust choking defensive facts from the Ravens game:
 

-The Bills blitzed Jackson on 15 of 31 dropbacks (48.4%), their 5th-highest blitz rate in a game under Sean McDermott and highest in a game since Week 15, 2021.

 

-The Bills defense played man coverage on 46.7% of pass plays in the first half, the unit's highest rate since Week 12, 2022.

 

-Bills played 3 LBs 33.3% of the plays last night. We saw several plays with Dorian as the Sam linebacker ON the line of scrimmage.

 

-Derrick Henry 84 yards rushing. Lamar Jackson 39 yards rushing.

I mean the easy response to this is that the "h8ers" were right when they begged McDermott to do these things and not do the same old crap we get trampled with year after year in the playoffs. Good on McDermott for making those adjustments, seriously. But the adjustments also prove that his defensive coaching in past playoff games has been subpar. Thankfully he recognized this and now we have a real shot at a Super Bowl.
