i dunno who erik turner cover 1 is, strange last name btw, but 4 yards per carry isn't a good thing. The Ravens will 4 yards per carry it to the endzone if that's really the desired outcome

Not really how it works…the 10-20 yard type runs that happen sparingly bring the average up.  If you’re running the ball every play a lot of times you’re gonna gain 0-1 and it’s gonna kill drives and force you into obvious throwing situations

Only one team allowed fewer than 4.0 yards per carry this season. So yeah, it's a good thing.

Granted, the bad thing is that the one team was the Ravens.

I wish we had more granularity to rushing numbers (3.3, 3.6, 4.0 yards etc) cause I think median would be a far more valuable metric than average that as you note is affected more by outliers which in this case are usually one sided.

EPA is what your looking for

I wonder if we'll get a shirtless Fitz again.

That image from the Pats game really embodies what it means to be a Buffalo Bills fan.

We will get a shirtless Fitz as he says "WHERE WOULD YOU RATHER BE..." right in the beginning of the game. Bank on that.

Thats fair.  EPA sometimes needs explanation, but then again median might as well.  maybe my hope for statistical understanding by the average fan is too high.

I've noticed that a lot of these "experts" fail to mention that fact.  Which is surprising given that it's probably the most important factoid of that game beyond the final score.  It simply shows how ignorant and lazy a lot of these national NFL "experts" really are.

Worth noting that the Athletic's beat reporter posted an article on the Bills defensive starters playing Sunday who didn't play in the last game: Bernard, Milano, Taron, and Rapp (who went out after 16 snaps) and the inferior players who replaced them last time: Spector, Morrow, Lewis, and Bishop. Pretty incredible that the talking heads don't see fit to mention this as they beat their chests about how the Ravens will dominate.

An excerpt: "The two starting linebackers against the Ravens were Dorian Williams and Baylon Spector. When the Ravens went to heavy personnel packages, the Bills subbed in linebacker Nicholas Morrow for the nickel cornerback, who, in that matchup, was Cam Lewis. Not only did that impact the nickel spot in normal packages, but also it brought on the team’s third-string nickel corner, Ja’Marcus Ingram, when the Bills went to their dime look on passing downs and shifted Lewis to a linebacker spot next to Spector. After our All-22 review of the game, the quartet of Spector, Lewis, Morrow and Williams were the four lowest-graded players on the team."

It was mostly the same last time these two teams played in the playoffs then the excuse train started when it didn’t go the way the media/negative contingent of bills fans thought it would lol

both teams were right around the win totals they are at this year, Baltimore coming to Buffalo, Lamar is gonna run all over them yada yada think we were a small favorite in that one technically but most of the media was picking Baltimore

Yeah i remember before that game the usual suspects were saying the Bills had no answer for Ricard.  I dont remember him having any material impact in the game

Lol then everyone sucks at rush defense.  4.0 yards per carry would tie for 3rd best this year.

everyone does suck at rush defense. Which is why Baltimore invested in Derrick Henry and has the no.1 offense in the league

Nah she always acting about how much love she has for us then picks against us a lot too. I know people love her but she talks out of both sides of her mouth a lot.

Don't they all?  If MinA Kimes is exhibit A for this, Kyle Brandt is exhibit B

One of the best game match-up previews I have ever seen!

Thorough and all bases covered.

How is this man not coaching?

GO BILLS!

It's a shame that this gets lost in a 2000 post thread because this board insists on over condensing everything. So I'll give it a quick TTT. Great job from Jon Gruden. Honestly, the Raiders should probably just re-hire him, AGAIN, for next year.

3 backers is the key this week

Should be a lot easier when only one of them is shaky in coverage instead of all

three of them like the regular season 😂. Spector Williams Morrow being the 3 LB set completely invalidates the regular season results imo…that is absolutely brutal.  And the alternative was stay in nickel with Lewis at nickel corner and no rapp also brutal

I was, until this thread, completely unaware of you as a poster.

Respectfully, I'd like to go back to that blissful ignorance.

sorry to offend you. I just have a different opinion on the 3 linebacker strategy. That's ok right?

anyway I agree with everyone here. The Bills will win big, by 20 points or more maybe and it will be over by halftime I think

Boy I hope the Bills spank the Ravens just to fist these three. Two guys who are on a mission to convince themselves that the guy who's the flavor of the week is the greatest who's ever snapped a jock on, and one who's pissy that the Ravens are getting more cachet than his life crush. Together a small gaggle of boobs of marginally different feathers, but it's mildly amusing to watch the mini cockfight.

And that's really the whole point.

Truthfully, there's an incredibly reasonable, unbiased and insightful Football analyst deep inside Nick Wright. It comes out every so often

So you must think Chicago and Cowboys and their 4.0 ypc should run the ball all the time.

I've seen that, for sure.

It's the old Skip Bayless question. Does he really believe what he's saying - or is this all an act?  Probably a little of both. I think Nick knows what his brand is - and it's not "objective analyst."

I’ve come to believe Nick probably knows as much as about each of the teams as anyone.  Depending which side of argument he decides to be on, he actually does a pretty good job remembering facts like which teams someone has played, who did what, etc.  That’s probably why when he says something anti-Bills that it gets under people’s skin, because there’s some truth to things that he says.

Nope - The Casino doesn't gamble

Wrong. The idea that every line is set to ensure equal betting on both sides so that they only make money on the vig is a myth.
