When you look at the Ravens games over the past couple months either Henry or Lamar have had very good games and sometimes both. I mean no one is stopping both guys.  The Steelers loss in week 11 is as close as anyone has come to shutting both down and Harbaugh/Monken were heavily criticized for only giving Henry 13 carries.

Having spent entirely too much time in the last couple of days reading and listening to what the commentators are saying about the Ravens and Bills, the consensus seems to be that Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson are unstoppable, the Ravens are the greatest team since the Monsters of the Midway, and the Bills should just curl up into the fetal position and beg for mercy.

What the point of even playing the game, let alone watching it?

It is kinda crazy though after all media blitz in the last few weeks crowning Lamar MVP so many talking heads this week talking more about having to stop Henry than anyone else.

I just watched on Inside the NFL Chris Long said you have to stop Henry - the best player on the field

he better duck cuz that goes against the narrative the former players on tv and radio have decided on.

lamar is the best and untouchable.  His highs are the best and his struggles are nothing to worry about because he will correct them.

Steve Smith said not only is he the best player in the league he is the standard on nfl network last week.

The ravens are loud and arrogant, they should win this game in a blowout.  According to them.

I was at the game in Baltimore earlier this year and got probably more sh*t talking than any other opposing stadium I have been to. If you're going to this one, do not be hospitable to Ravens fans. You don't need to scream in the faces of little kids or anything, but Ravens fans should not feel welcome or comfortable.

It's what is frustrating. The Bills could stop Lamar Jackson and the Ravens alone. The Bills would be more pressed to stop Derrick Henry and the Ravens (with a serviceable QB Tyrod Taylor or Skylar Thompson level). Jackson is very very good but our defense stacks up well against him. We do not stack up well against Henry (no teams really do).

The OC, Modrack?, has to come out of the gate with consistent plays. In fact, I come out on the same play they ran last time to get the TD. I push Henry up the gut the first play and every few plays after that. Early on he gets his reps, he gets his motor going, and I expect the Bills to throw themselves in front of him to stop him - which will decimate the players.

Jackson only needs to pass 20-22 times in this game. Anything more than that and they're in trouble. They need to control the clock with Henry running, with Lamar running, and play possession ball because they don't want or need a shootout for the Bills.

I went there 2016 to open the season. I had some 50 yr old trying to fight. He was half drunk, he was a big fella, but gosh it was hilarious. People were egging him on to fight just to watch.

The entire crowd was miserable despite the Bills having no chance.

I'd favor being better than bad fans.

We don't have to match toxicity we might see in other fanbases.  Buffalo fans can set their own bar, and set it high.

I'm hoping Cam gets some run in a dime package with odd mirror cause we have a big lead and they have to be drop back passers (take a DL off in this scenario cause youre gonna rush 3 with a LB spy).  But then again i was hoping for an Ankou call up and hes off the PS again so what do i konw.  I do agree with your line of thought that we wont be relying on these back 7 players as much in this game as we did last time.

i dont want to see cam try to tackle anyone

I think our offense getting a lead early, sustaining long drives and winning the TOP (similar to Denver game), is our best opportunity to limit Henry and throw off Lamar and the entire Ravens offense.

That's the thing though - my point was after all the non-stop Lamar MVP talk the last few weeks by talking heads, I've seen so many of the same people who were touting him as MVP also now saying the key to beating the Ravens is stopping Henry.  It's some kind of bizarro world where they've gone on and on how he is the best player on the planet, but in analyzing the game say Henry is the most important person to stop

he does everything right..for the most part..quick to get where he needs to be..and then bounce off the defender and hit the turf while the defender keeps on going.

He was a beast the first couple of game though. Great depth at times. Hope he's hitting the bags this week

I know I need to get over it, but I still can’t get over how he lost the Vikings game a couple of years ago

Interesting snippet from Matt Parrino:

Quote

Great insight from Ed Oliver today on what happened against BAL in Week 4. He said they ran two plays: Wham and Trap, which call for fullback (Patrick Ricard in this case) to pull and block the defensive tackle. It's an odd play that Oliver said you don't see often.

"We know, wham, trap. First play of the game. When we played them early on, they wham, they cut me with 42, they did things that were not necessarily what you say, common, to cut a D tackle with a fullback and to wham him. We know that's coming. I know that's coming. I'm keyed into it more so than I was the first game. And I will say I'm ready for it."

I continue to feel a quiet confidence about the defense. I think they learned a lot from that first matchup and Baltimore will see things they aren't prepared for.

To me the offense is still my biggest question mark. I'm not sure we have the personnel to attack Baltimore where they're weak. Brady will have to be in his bag and Allen will need to have a superstar performance to put up 30. If we do that we win.
