Bills vs Ravens Divisional Round

I respect Lamar for this take. It’s always bothered me to a small degree how close Bills players are too players of other teams. The hugging after the game, etc. I miss the bitterness of the 80’s and 90’s when teams truly hated each other.

Obviously anything can happen, but I’ve now tuned out the noise and I will be absolutely shocked if the Ravens control this game.  I’m not predicting a Bills 10+ point win or anything, but I’m looking forward to hearing Mr. Brightside at the stadium Sunday night.

I feel the exact same way.   The Raven players/coaches just seem so overconfident, all the 'disrespect' doesn't even need to be manufactured - it's all been put out there from all over on a (very full) platter for the players to feast on, the weather being the same as the Patriot Perfect Playoff Game (all I can picture is Lamar huddled on the bench in his ski mask and parka thinking "why am I here").  It's like the perfect storm for a glorified, favored, overconfident team to come into an opposing hostile environment against a super motivated focused team and get their a$$ whooped then wonder "what the hell just happened?!"

Same blowhorn said that Denver was gonna shut half the field down last week and that Buffalo was in trouble because of it. He thought Denver was a BAD matchup for us. He's becoming a professional tool looking for clicks.

Right on buddy!!! The Ravens are wayyyyy overrated. They had a "easy" schedule for the last 8 games. They are a solid team but not the juggernaut people are making them out to be. I'm more scared of Detroit, Rams, KC. And you know how we played all 3 of those teams.

Bills are gonna destroy Baltimore. 4 quarters and by the end... josh is sitting.

-Bills seem strangely relaxed and very focused, including McDermott

 

You can project false confidence... especially when your brand is bully ball.  The vibe the Bills are giving off between McDermott cracking jokes, Allen all smiles envisioning Mr Brightside playing in the 4th and the Von story about Bernard's philosophical take regarding "the man in the river" is something else you can't really fake.

 

We'll find out which approach was warranted/validated Sunday Night.

Let e start by saying that I do not believe that our backup rookie safety who has struggled to get on the field is going to play a big part in the game on Sunday. 

But if he does.....

I wouldn't be shocked if he comes in on running downs for Hamlin. He is a bit more of a thumper than Damar. The reason I mention is because if we do go 3 LB's or 5 DT's at points I think we go single high safety and Damar is also first off the field.

I was just thinking of a wild scenario... Since the Bills Ravens game is the last matchup of the divisional round, what if all of the favorites before them lose and youre left with the commanders, eagles/rams and Texans. No disrespect to those teams but it would feel like the super bowl would be taking place this Sunday night.

What makes you think they’re overconfident? I’m genuinely curious. I haven’t followed what they’ve said.

Could be. I don’t know what he meant to say. But…if he meant to say what you suggest, at the very least, he could’ve worded that MUCH better. In the age where Joe Burrow and Mixon are pissed off about selling playoff tickets prospectively (like every other team), and where everyone is looking for the slightest edge, I’ll take all the slights. Real or perceived.

I'm weirdly so relaxed. Not even worried about this game one bit. SO many things in our favor. Was more nervous for the Broncos matchup.

I'm hoping Cam gets some run in a dime package with odd mirror cause we have a big lead and they have to be drop back passers (take a DL off in this scenario cause youre gonna rush 3 with a LB spy).  But then again i was hoping for an Ankou call up and hes off the PS again so what do i konw.  I do agree with your line of thought that we wont be relying on these back 7 players as much in this game as we did last time.

The Spartans had a word, pseudoandreia, to describe all the shouting, weapon clashing and pump-up speeches the other side gave their guys before a battle. They thought it was a sign of nerves winning out over discipline.

 

The Spartans did the same thing at every battle. They sang a hymn to the goddess Artemis as they stood in ranks, then advanced to contact in silence.  It didn't work every time, but nobody enjoyed facing it.

The entire game and talking points are 100% about how Henry and lamar are going to do. If the Bills offense comes up it is simply that all the ravens have to do is stop JA17. I guess that isn't a big concern and easy to do because that's what every team has successfully done this year, huh?
