I would, too. But I also want the Bills to win the Super Bowl cleanly, with no lingering asterisks like "But Allen still hasn't beat Mahomes" or "They were lucky they didn't have to go through KC and won't be legitimate until they do." I can hear this line of B.S. already. No, I'd rather they beat Baltimore then simply crush KC in KC before handling whoever the NFC sends.

Dude is 31.  That is OLD for a RB.  All season, I downplayed this potential match-up, because I was sure he would start to slow down as the season progressed and he'd look his age by the playoffs. And instead, he looked as good as ever this past Saturday.

 

We've had such a hard time stopping him in the past.  I hope McD & Babich can come up w/ something this time - just keeping him under 100 would be big.

 

 

in 4 of 6 matchups we kept him under 80 yards, a couple of those he didnt rush for more than 40...

 

The problem isn't just Henry, if he had an average QB (or even a non mobile QB) then we could be just fine. Add in the play making ability of Lamar with his feet and its why its a tough matchup to solve. However, there are always answers to puzzles.

About the Texans' chances: it will have been 3 weeks since Kansas City played a meaningful game. Strong chance they will take a quarter or so to get going.

 

Five years ago, you may remember, the Texans had exactly this situation against the no. 1 seeded Chiefs. They jumped out to a 21-0 lead, but Mahomes brought the Chiefs storming back with 4 touchdowns in the 2nd quarter and won 51-31.

 

However, this is not that Chiefs offense. That was the team with Hill and peak Kelce. If this Texans team can jump on them in the first quarter it could be huge.

The Ravens took advantage of our depleted LB core in week 4.  Misdirection and getting Hill and Henry to the second level.  Spector and Morrow were chasing all game, they didnt have the maturity or skill to stop the running attack.  Benford and Milano can do that.  Especially with the additional weight Milano looks to have put on, him one on one with Henry at the hole is a good thing for us IMO - Milano knows how to tackle low.

Lamar and the Ravens are definitely capable of beating the Bills (or anyone) through the air. But you still have to make them win that way. That's still not their preferred way of operating especially in the freezing cold and potentially without Flowers or at least with a banged up Flowers. There's a reason they went out and got Henry in the offseason. They wanted more ways to win on the ground. You just gotta find a way to make them beat you through the air. If they do it, at least you made them win the hard way.

I could be mistaken but I do think that the Ravens game made it clear to the Bills brass that we had a gap in our skill set that teams who defended us a certain way could exploit.  Then missing Shakir the following week was just awful.  So Beane started looking to make a deal.

 

He was definitely injured on an awkward tackle by Roquan Smith in the 1st qrtr and went off.

He either took the needle or just sucked it up and came back in during the 2nd qrtr because of how shorthanded the Bills were at WR.

He hobbled around out there for a while, maybe caught another pass or two at the most and then was taken back out again in the 2nd half and didn't play again for two weeks.

Josh Allen has one of the greatest playoff games ever in sub zero temp 

 

Add in Lamar not just freezing temps, but he's never been in this type of cold.

The public is moving the line in favor of the Ravens which isn't surprising given how the media has glazed Lamar all season, but the pros bet in the first and last hour.  If the line creeps back to even or favoring the Bills just before game time, that will be a good sign, but I want it favoring the Ravens at least until the guys have to go on the field, so they can marinate in it.  Nothing wrong with a little extra motivation, even in the playoffs.
