Bills vs Ravens Divisional Round

So I get that the Ravens have the best rushing attack in the league and are nearly impossible to stop.  But they lost 5 games this season.  How did they get beat?    Seriously, I’m curious cause I haven’t had time to do a deep dive into YouTube breakdowns on them yet. 
 

But it seems they are fallible, just wondering how it happens.

I think some of the early season losses was due to having a new DC and figuring things out on defense.
 

They really changed their pass defense around week 10. Here is a good article on that:

If the bills win the coin toss they should most definitely receive the ball. Control the clock and wear out the defense. Looked to work out for both the teams last game

Agreed!   And sure they are.   I mean I get the standard… stay in your lanes etc.  and there’s a lot to that.   The bit of the Steelers game I watched…before turning it off and taking down Christmas lights…

TJ was crashing down the line to stop Henry and Lamar just kept the ball and ran right past him.  
 

So playing contain and not being over aggressive to Henry I’m sure is part of it.   But if they give the ball to him, how do you bring him down?   Have a LB spy Henry?  And tell the Ends to play contain on Lamar?

Maybe McD can send big shoes to the Ravens receivers. It worked for 1 of their losses.

My hope is that because the Ravens haven’t really been tested since Dec 1 (L to Eagles)

That they forgot how to handle a team that punches them in the mouth physically. 
 

Note we had 9ers, Rams, Lions, Pats, Jets, Pats, Broncos in this timeframe and yes, the Steelers and Texans are playoff teams (but cmon).

I think the next three possible games will be pretty evenly matched.  Coaching, and some luck are needed.

 

McDermott's done many, many things right and for me he needs to more creative and intelligently aggressive in the playoffs.  And I think he's starting to realize this.  D line did a good job, we didn't retreat into a pure prevent defense and we stayed aggressive late in the game to keep momentum.  Keeping momentum is key.

 

Someone on Denver's D mentioned the Bills O did a great job of confusing them because of changing their zone blocking schemes frequently.  Great stuff, and what I want to hear.  McD in his PC mentioned making defensive adjustments at halftime but before halftime whenever possible.

 

As long as he keeps coaching this way I think he gets at least another year before considering a change.
