But you can’t just focus on only Henry either.  Need a plan for containing Lamar too.

Milano can though, until Lamar crosses the line of scrimmage

Gruden pointed out that Roquan Smith gave Spencer Brown a lot of trouble in the first matchup.

Smith had 0 sacks, 2 solo tackles (6 combined) no TFLs, 5 blitzes with 0 hurries.

Josh had a 106.7 QB rating against him and went 4 of 5 passing for 48 yards.

Hard to see stat wise that Spencer Brown had trouble with him.

Spencer had problems but not against Smith.

I would prefer the guy who fumbles a lot to have the ball when historically fumbles are 35% higher at the temps they will be playing at versus the one who doesn't.

So you wouldn’t put a spy on Lamar?

Sure, but I wouldn't discourage him from keeping it versus handing it off...just have to have a better plan than Pittsburgh did when he does it.

The more he handles it and tries those juke moves with a slippery ball, which will be far more slippery than any other ball during a game he has had to deal with, the greater the risk of fumbles.

Don’t disagree that it could be preferable to encourage Lamar to run with the ball, rather than Henry.  I’m questioning if we do put a spy on Lamar, whether having someone with more speed like Dorian or Bishop would be wiser than Milano.  While Milano is quick and has great instincts, Lamar might be able to run right by him in open field.

1st and foremost Lamar Jackson and the Ravens want to get the ball into Derrick Henry's hands in open space IMO. Run or pass.

To me spying Henry, spies Lamar in the process ;  )

My mistake. Gruden said it was Van Noy who gave Brown trouble, not Smith. See 29-minute mark of video below.

Cosell seems to think Milano will be used as the spy.

Probably because he was used that way against Denver. Kinda gotta have a spy against this team I think.

The ‘91 Redskins were the best team the Bills faced in their 4 Super Bowl appearances. As good as the Cowboys teams were ( they were all superior to the Bills except the Giants in SB XXV)that Redskins team was one for the ages. Oddly enough, a Bills/ Lions Super Bowl was possible that year , as Detroit and Washington squared off in the Title tilt. Is this the year that matchup actually happens ?

Yup. Obviously the 92/ 93 cowboys were incredibly talented and probably deeper than the 91 redskins but as far as one year, a starting 22 , balance and defensive prowess it's hard to pick a team greater than the 91 redskins. Id take them over everyone except for the 89 49ers and 85 bears, although the 91 redskins could make an argument for the greatest ever.

The 91 redskins were in my opinion the best oline ever and extremely deep at RB. They were one play away ( a hail Mary) from being undefeated.

I wonder if the Bills will defend the read option by crashing down on Henry like Pittsburgh did, but have a spy on Jackson like Milano, forcing LJ to beat the Bills consistently with his arm, which I don't think he can do.

Hopefully Hamlin isn't taking bad angles again. One of the reasons Henry broke that TD on their first play was Hamlin getting sucked inside while Henry was breaking out. His slow speed and bad angle left no backside defense there. It almost looked like he did that on purpose so he didn't have to try and tackle him lol.

Spencer and the O-Line are key for Josh to score a lot of points.  They know that.  Spencer has much more confidence going into

this game than he did earlier in the season.

This bills team reminds me of the 1996 Packers.

Spencer Brown is the best rt in football and this game is going to put Torrence and brown on the map as not only the best rg/rt in the NFL but will be reminiscent of the Erik Williams and Larry Allen cowboys line

I’m not Bill Belichick, but spying a running back sounds ridiculous to me.  If the ball is handed off to Henry, of course the Bills need a plan to tackle him.  But Henry generally won’t be looking to pass the ball during the game, so there’s no need to have any defender worry about containing him in the pocket.  Lamar is the dual threat player that potentially requires a spy.

I have no problem with that happening.  LOL.

Rasul Douglas was the one who made the mistake.  Rasul was playing odd about 7 yards off the LOS when the ball was snapped and once Lamar gave the ball to Henry, Rasul started coming down, unblocked and for some odd reason he went very wide and took a bad entry angle and Henry ended up going off tackle well to the inside of where Rasul went.

This is absolutely how I feel. This was supposed to be a soft rebuild year. Think about what we are going to look like in a few more years. I really think 26-27 is all Bills.

now onto Ravens, you guys all know football way better than I do. But with the cold/snowy weather coming into Buffalo, you would assume it's going to be a more run heavy game for the Ravens no?

if we can hold possession of the ball and run that clock, keep Lamar and Henry cold and on the sidelines

Heavy run game is what the Ravens would do regardless of weather. Thats how they play football. The only time they don't do that is if the other team is stopping it. Lamar typically only has ~15 completions a game.

He's got contain there and under no circumstances can he let the ballcarrier outside of him.

He has to approach at that angle and turn him inside before he does anything else.

I thought Williams and Hamlin were the primary culprits on that run if I remember right.
