Listen around 9 minute mark. Two takeaways: 1) Ravens were basically in 11 personnel with an extra offensive lineman (plus Ricard) for a ton of the game. 2) Steelers played nickel a ton out of those sets, and were gashed for over 9 yards per play. (When Steelers went heavy, they stopped them). so what innovative defensive alignment might the Bills use against this “heavy” Ravens group? Maybe: 5 DL, 3 LB, 2 CB, 1 safety ? Quote

Our offensive scheme seemed very vanilla when we got to the Red Zone. that 1/5 stat is misleading though (you didnt mention but heard stephen A say it). discount the kneel downs makes it 1/4. then add in context of holding on the third down that got missed. That would likely be a TD. Hollins catch would likely be a TD if not for silly taunting, but then we didnt score when backed up to the 18. so its bit more like 3/5 (not counting 2 point conversion). Considering how good broncos are in the RZ I can live with it but it does need to be different. 27 minutes ago, Miyagi-Do Karate said: Interesting breakdown by Steelers’ film guy, and a very cautionary tale for us. That means minimal 11 personnel (max would be 40 out of 74 snaps assuming no WR on the other snaps). I think this scout needs new eyes. Seems like they played 21, 22, or 12 personnel a ton. 1 Quote

Maybe: 5 DL, 3 LB, 2 CB, 1 safety ? Unless we are terribly concerned about their slot receivers or RBs catching passes out of the backfield the Bills could pull Taron out and sub in Dorian as the extra backer without too much drop off. They have rolled with 3 LBs before, but everyone knows they prefer to run their base nickel. We tried leaning into our base defense before and were gashed by Henry and Lamar runs so we will see if our defense tries to match up more on the size and box numbers than they did before and run a bit more man coverage and single high. Rushers need to be gap sound and not get too far up field or they will set themselves up for wham blocks or lose contain. Have to win that trench war and be sound tackling/wrapping up with that first guy there. Tall order for our defense regardless unless we can get the early lead and force Lamar to beat us with his arm. Even then I don't see Harbough abandoning the run completely unless they really feel the squeeze of running out of clock. Edited 14 hours ago by WideNine 1 Quote

sleeby Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago NT weather shows sat as high almost 40 and Sunday high as 19f. Sounds like a lot of cold air moving in and so a lot of wind. A ground game will not be good for us. Let's hope that changes. Quote

Isnt ‘wind’ the excuse the anti mcd crowd uses for why we beat Baltimore last time in the playoffs 😂 probably makes it a little easier to add LBers on defense without Josh being effected very much on the other side of the ball if it’s a little windy. A gale force wind pats game situation would not be good but a steady breeze hurts the ravens more imo Edited 14 hours ago by Generic_Bills_Fan 1 Quote

According to an article on Buffalo Rumblings, game time temperature could be 8 degrees farenheit. Lamar Jackson's coldest game ever was 27. Derek Henry's coldest game ever was 22. That may be cold enough that Lamar and Derek will have a tough time adjusting. 2 Quote

It hurts more to tackle, but it also hurts more to be tackled. Henry is from Florida, went to college in Alabama, and has never played for a pro team North of the Mason-Dixon line. In a long career he’s probably had less than 10 sub-freezing games. 3 Quote

Right and Terrell Bernard, who grew up in Texas, played at Baylor, never been in a walk-in freezer in his life, yada yada, is tasked with tackling Henry. it is a tired conversation and so overblown. 1 Quote
