He’s a high floor but low ceiling style of coach imo. Yea he’s got a qb that looks pretty good now but doesn’t have the OL and hof RB he had before so that’s kind of a wash I don’t think vrabel is the guy I would’ve brought in to develop drake maye if it was me unless he can swipe a really good OC from somebody 1 Quote
Coach Tuesday Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Unlike Mayo, Vrabel has league connections and will be able to put together a credible coaching staff (no offense AVP). 1 Quote

LEBills Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I think Vrabel is a good coach, but Kraft is an overrated, cheap owner and this isn’t the AFC South where the best QB in the division was Deshaun Watson Vrabels entire tenure. I’d be pretty surprised if they finished ahead of the Bills in the division for as long as Josh is playing, though certainly will be more resistance than recent Pats teams. 1 1 1 Quote

He won’t be making any buffoon like decisions. Outfoxed Billy Boy once in an end of game timing scenario. The price of AFC-E Poker just went up! Quote

He promoted Todd Downing to OC who is probably even worse than AVP so idk if it’s guaranteed he will bring in some incredible coaching staff Quote
GunnerBill Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Big question is how much personnel input is he going to have? Quote

What does that have to do with anything? Vrabel is an experienced, quality coach. His teams never did much in the playoffs, but that was with the likes of Ryan Tannehill at QB. Maye looks like a good one and Wolf is an experienced GM. They now have a possible path to being a good team. I prefer to see them foundering, but looks like they may be competitive soon. 14 minutes ago, HOUSE said: I am very scared too. Vrabel could be there 2 years Who mentioned scared? Quote

White Linen Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I think the Pats are cute for trying, as they should. They'll soon find out that no matter what they do, Josh Allen is going to slam the door in their face. 2 Quote

JGMcD2 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 It’s who they should have hired last year. Lucky for them, he was available this year. He makes them a serious program, but was marred by personnel issues with Tennessee and I think the same thing happens here in New England. Quote
stevewin Posted January 12 Posted January 12 (edited) Good - I can't stand the MeatHead. NE has become such a pathetic irrelevant franchise has been harder to conjure hatred lately - this will help fuel it F him - and F the cheater franchise that spawned him Edited January 12 by stevewin 1 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Bummer. This is the first offseason move any of our bumbling divisional rivals has made in the past 3-4 years that is actually a step in the right direction. He is the anti-McDermott, in a good way for football. Luckily, we still greatly out match them talent-wise so Josh should be able to cover for us. For now. Quote
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted January 12 Posted January 12 To zero surprise. I don't think it'll make the difference Kraft thinks. I'm not going to say Mayo is a great coach but he had his team conditioned and playint hard. Until they fix that On-line they are not going anywhere fast Quote

But he had some talent on his Titan rosters that he didn't do much with, even being one and done as the #1 seed a few years back. He's had mixed success against us, they blew us out before, we've blown them out before and a few tough close games....but he is not a great game day manager and I don't fear him as a coach. I still think the Patriots needed a complete fresh start in the building, not an old Patriot doing things the familiar way. Quote
