Allen vs Herbert

Watching this game should let us all know how lucky we are to have Josh on our team. Herbert is unbelievably talented, but it’s pretty obvious he doesn’t have “it”. Somehow year after year this guy has avoided criticism, so if there isn’t a “Herbert is overrated” club I would like to officially start it. 
 

To me, the difference between what Josh brings to the table and what Herbert does is the size of the Grand Canyon. If there is anyone who still thinks Herbert is a top 5 QB, please let me know what you see in him, because he’s not the guy

That's because he was a highly-regarded QB in the draft and had an excellent rookie season.  Most people can't shake first impressions.

chargers could have been up 24-0 in this game early in the 3rd 2 FG, turnover, downs., and thry let thrm get a late 98 yd TD drive.

 

Herbert needs very good receivers to be a pure passer. Right now he has just one.

Herbert puts up regular season stats, but he has 0 charisma and just doesn't have that "it" factor you want in an NFL QB.

If you compare actual accomplishments it’s not close.. but somehow Herbert gets a pass. Bad coaches and organization, but at what point does he produce??? Clock is ticking with JH (also overrated) at the helm.

Been that way for years. $50 million salary earns him “he’s great” narrative. See Trevor Lawrence.

He just doesn’t have the extra “it” factor that guys like Allen and Mahomes and Jackson have. He’s a piece of plain buttered toast as a quarterback.

Sort of the opposite of what happened to Baker. First pick in the draft and had the great rookie year, then got crucified because he was on a dysfunctional Browns team (and the endless commercials didn't help).

 

I'd take Baker any day over Herbert. Baker looks like he genuinely gives a s**t out there and leaves it all on the field.

All one has to do to realize how lucky we are to have Allen is watch the Bills for any number of games.  Comps aren't even necessary.

This was the story on him at Oregon too. He had a great RoseBowl win his senior year though and then played really well his rookie year. I thought well maybe he has figured it out.

I'm still undecided.  Not much skill position talent on the Chargers' roster and then there is the Greg Roman factor. But it is looking more and more like he won't be one of the truly elite QBs that can carry a team.

Josh Allen is off to one of the greatest statistical starts in NFL playoff history. 

 

He already has more playoff PASSING tds than, Rivers, Eli and Fouts in their entire career...

 

He has the 2nd most tds in NFL playoff history for a QB in his first ten playoff games, only mahomes has been better in NFL history....

 

Allen has made the playoffs every single year after his rookie season.

Herbert is an “off the bus” guy. He really, really looks the part. But looking the part and producing a great product are two different things. Just ask Vinny Chase!

good point.

 

Excellently explains Allen being the “most overrated” after most laughing at his being drafted in the top 10 and feeling vindicated after his sub 60% completion percentage his first two seasons.

I don’t think it is about the money.

 

Nobody actually thinks Lawerence is a top 5 QB though. Fringe top 10 and that is extremely generous.

Pretty sure Acho started it back in 2021.  He’s been on the Herbert is overrated thing for a while.
