I have to say, I was surprised this season when Pittsburgh switch to Russell Wilson as their QB.  Fields has had his issues as a young QB, now in his 4th year.  Wilson is past his prime.  He'll make a play occasionally, but not often enough.  In the game tonight, the Steelers flat could not run the ball, and Wilson was entirely too pedestrian passing the ball.  They made a bit of a run in the third quarter, and Wilson made a few deep passes, but overall, I think the Steelers were entirely too predictable.  At least Fields gives them another set of legs to scramble a bit or move out of the pocket.  He may still have some upside if Tomlinson were to get him some good coaching and time to grow into the Steelers offense.

What you described has been Wilson in every Steeler game I’ve watched this season.

Better yes, but they aren't that great either.

Not great but they have been superb at times. The talent is there to be great to boot.

Roquon Smith/KVN/Madubuke/Oweh/Humphrey/Hamilton/Wiggins/Stephens

Some absolutely quality in there imo

Presuming you’re from that area given the name title. What’s the consensus there with the locals?

Do they want to give Fields a go or are content with another bridge guy like Wilson if they, which is likely, can’t get a young QB.

These are my observations - I don't go too much out of my way to look at what the Steelers are doing. That said, Omar Khan took control this year and flushed the qb room. So I think they've seen enough from Fields to keep him around but I have to think they'll be looking for a vet to come in and run the show. I assume that will be someone who Arthur Smith is familiar with. Omar will not be afraid to make a move if there's someone they want. I am not up on their cap situation for next year and it will be interesting to see if how Khan navigates that. The Steelers don't really take a year off from competing for a championship so they'll try and field the best team possible. Seems like there is a lot of work to do, the last part of the prior gm Colbert's drafting seems to be a little lacking.

The Steelers late season meltdown this year won Lamar Jackson the MVP and gave the Chiefs an easy out in the Divisional round.  Thanks Tomlin.  Hope they fire you and the Patriots hire you so they can be one and done in the Wild Card for the next ten years.

Neither the Chargers nor the Steelers were prepared to play today and that is on coaching. Embarrassing.

Chargers I can sort of understand. Will be interesting to see if the Rams come out in a similar vein on Monday. The Steelers were beaten before they took to the field.

#1 in the league across the board since they cut Jackson, pushed KH to a double high FS look. I think it was week 11 the changes occurred. We also benched Marcus Williams.

Two guys who are focused on defense and running the ball ended up getting ousted from the playoffs. Two teams with an utter lack of weapons on offense in the passing game. This just goes to show how Herbert isn't the guy to get to a SB. I'm shocked in 2025 these two teams got ousted early.

Best thing Steelers could do is trade Tomlin like the Saints did with Peyton. Tomlin is a good coach that can beat enough scrub teams to get a winning record, but once they make the playoffs the talent gap is too great.

Reset, get a rookie QB and a young head coach and take your lumps in the regular season so hopefully you can start winning in the post season again.

Herbert's an enigma of a quarterback.  He always passes the eye test but there's something always "off" about him in important games.  He just can never seem to put a consistent four quarters together.

100% You could say that LA had a big excuse or you could argue that they should have come out and played balls out to distract people out of the misery of the past week but they just didnt look like they wanted to be there. The Steelers looked really unprepared like they hadnt studied any film. They must have bit on Jackson's play fakes about 10 times in this game. Ridiculous how silly Watt looked out there tackling a guy who didnt have the ball as Lamar just walked to a first down. They also tackled like they were afraid to get hurt. I guess they were intimidated by Henry.

All in all I would give LA a bit of a break for the fire situation but the Steelers? They were flat out garbage!

Lot of hate for the HC who's always in the playoffs w nothing at QB

He's the one who signed off on Rudolph, Trubisky, Pickett, and Wilson.  Maybe give him a year off and let Hue Jackson coach for a year so they can get the number one pick and get a real quarterback.

didn’t do much with Ben in his later years also.  Didn’t make a SB with Ben, Bell, and Brown.  Lots of Steelers fans upset at that.

Guy should be in the hall of fame for getting to the playoffs every year with Russ/justin fields/pickett/rudolph etc

not with the Ben, Bell and Brown combo.  Those were arguably some choke jobs in the playoffs
