IDK … I recall Kmart running an campaign years ago regarding “shipping your pants” 😂

Yeah and around that time there was a commercial for women's razors to shave down there where they had 3 women standing in front of "bushy" plants that were placed strategically over their things and showing them shaving them into nice patterns.

at Christmas time  this year I found a soap made in Australia made from lemon myrtle oil and manuka honey.. I would use it twice a day just to smell as good as that soap.

Whole body deodorant to me (as has already been  stated) an idea insinuating a person needs this to be fresh and clean. NO soap and water are the ticket. and an anti perspirant. that's all folks.

and they clearly want our money. Who doesn't.

The commercials are meant to create demand. People are persuaded they have a problem that doesn’t exist.

Woman have been marketed deodorant since the 1910s.  Men starting in the 1930s...

What did the masses do prior?

I guess they REALLY stunk.

I moved to Texas and was sweating a ridiculous amount in the summer. Tried one of these products. Ordered it online. When it got here the smell wasn’t the greatest. Used it once and my girlfriend was like absolutely not. Sat in bathroom until I finally threw it out.  Baby powder works just fine.

I just saw one with the worst rap crap song.  Some obese woman talking about her neck and her legs and whatever else  needing this body deodorant.

She’s fat and gross. Of course she stinks in places she can’t reach.

Disgusting slut, I tell ya.  Disgusting.

Yeah there was a commercial with a, ahem, fluffy girl who looks into the camera and says "more than just my armpits stink."  I'm like "yeah, no doubt!"

Hmmmm…I’m not so sure about your theory.  I’ve been a public school educator and an adjunct college professor for the better part of 20 years, and I’ve never had to pull a student aside to tell them their junk is stinky.  🤔

Very funny 😆

And if you did you’d be labeled an “anti-junkstench -ophobe” and banished to the boiler room to have lunch with the weird janitor.

Have you ever hung out with Europeans?..........man, they really know how to stink up a room.

They don't seem to go with any body deodorant gimmicks. They let their natural body pheromones do all the work in attracting ladies.

They have no need for deodorants, showers/baths, etc........they just let that stink hang out there and waft it's natural goodness for miles around.

The stinky guy who would stalk me in the gym was not originally from the US. He was from somewhere that smelled much worse, and I’m sure he fit right in there.

I had an exchange student from El Salvador during high school. He would go into the bathroom, lock the door and run the bath water. He would then spritz himself with some perfumey crap and come back out, never having touched the water. He was ripe! 🤢 He tried to kill me one night after Monday night football by smothering me with a pillow. We learned the next day that his parents sent him to the US because he had been trying to kill his brother. He had meds (labels in Spanish) he was not taking, and I’m guessing that was related. When confronted, his parents asked if we could just send him to California. They did not want to take any returns.

I blame all you guys who shave your bodies down. In caveman times the body hair trapped in body odors so predators couldn’t track them as easily.

I shaved my junk once.........I almost felt like i should have had scented candles around the house, mirrors on the ceilings, walked around in a bathrobe sipping brandy, scented lotions, etc.

It wasn't for me.

Okay, so I’m sitting here watching ESPN wild card weekend hype on television, and it seems like every ten seconds there is a commercial for these whole body deodorant bars/sprays.

First it was that Mando lady all over the place, and now I see Marshawn spraying his junk with a Dove product every time I glance at the television.  I’m sure there are others that aren’t coming to mind right now.

Here’s my thoughts.  Is there really public demand such that these products are so widely advertised?  Also, if someone’s personal hygiene is sufficient, why would their nether regions emanate odors that other people in the same room could actually be offended by the stench?  If you bathe regularly and your genitals or butt still stink up the room you are NASTY.  What are we doing here?

Am I alone?  I find this to be repugnant and disgusting. 🤢 😂

I agree totally.  I thought maybe I was grossed out by all these commercials simply because I'm old and somewhat out of touch with modern personal hygiene.

Absolutely.  Until a few years ago when that first all body deodorant showed up, none of us realized we all stunk to high heaven.

I think the next "big thing" we will be told we need is one-use paper towels to dry our faces because cloth towels may contain "bacteria" that these special paper towels will protect us from.

My theory:  Younger generations of men (after Gen X) do not shower as often as generations before them, or potentially - know how to shower properly.  You have to clean everywhere.

I also wouldn't assume they know how to properly wash clothes and linens - especially washcloths (if they use them) and towels.  The little pod doesn't take the germs away.  So everything, after a while, can have an odor.

There are a lot of families without dads to teach in modern society, and hardly any school has Home Econ. anymore where the Home Econ. teacher goes over detergent vs. bleach, how to wash your whites, etc.

I personally find women who do not wash their hair for days gross.

I find your "theory" to be nonsense.  It's based on nostalgia for the past and a lot of the bull manure that infests social media.  A handful of weirdos who oppose sensible personal hygiene habits or don't wash their clothes regularly do not necessarily represent all young men -- or young women.  Modern washers and modern detergents work just fine when used correctly, including sanitizing without using bleach.   That's why washers come with manuals and detergents with "instructions for use".

I don't know how old you are, but you sound like an old blowhard of about my age who views the "good old days" through rose-colored glasses.  When I was a kid, dads didn't do a lot of teaching of personal hygiene to their sons except maybe shaving, probably because they didn't know all that much.  In fact, dads frequently back then had little to do with their kids, boys or girls, until they were adolescents.   It was all up to the moms.

Another reality check is that Home Economics was seldom a required subject for high school graduation.  Furthermore, back in the day, only girls took  home economics classes while boys were relegated to shop or auto mechanics classes.  Moreover, Home Economics generally morphed from learning how to wash clothes and make beds into "practical living" courses in the 1970s, so we've been stinking because of badly washed clothes for half a century and didn't know it until some advertising agency told us "the truth".

I find people in general who don't wash themselves or their hair for days to be gross.

You see, instead of teaching us in school about personal hygiene or how to create a budget or figuring out financial situations, they taught us how to play the flute............cause you know, that's going to help us out in the real world.

my son and his friends whom are  30's (millennials screw it I can't spell it ) Those people in that age group especially while on tour would go days without hair washing. It was like a band bonding thing.

They'd get off the bus and their hair was stringy.  Granted these were indie types anyway and their fans didn't care. But to me I'm like WHAT!~!

They used "dry shampoo" and claimed it worked. What do I know about dry shampoo? ZIPPO. lol

anyway this thread need not be so preachy. This was a fun anecdotal memory for me.

dry shampoo I think would work better than body deodorant *shrugs*  I'm very skeptical about the OP reference just sayin'
